Rob isn't capable. Anything involving Cam will require a 1st cause that's what they gave up for him. Jazz will want at least one and Rob will gladly give DA a second 1st because he asked nicely.

There's TOO MANY options and Rob is in over his head and unless it's as straight forward as the Indy deal, he's going to get owned by both the Knicks and Jazz.

Apologies for my confusing ramblings. I was not referring to the deal that just happened with the Beverley acquisition. More about what is to come.

I agree, let's not write him off yet! But there is a big mountain to climb!!

Indy is our best path forward, but if that's the ask, I'm looking at...

Russ, Nunn, AR, 2 1sts for Turner, Hield, Duarte

    OR

Russ, Nunn, AR, 2 1sts for Turner, Hield, McConnell, 2 2nd rounders

Nope to Indy. Eff em. New York Utah has better options for us.

They might. But you trust Rob to extract those from both teams? I don't, especially after Stan. All the other GM has to do is ask and Rob will go to Macy's (or whatever the LA equivalent is) and have them custom wrap those players/picks for the other team.

According to Windy they want this done before camp, so if we're involved that gives us a deadline as well. As far as I'm concerned, camp is the deadline regardless. Russ CANNOT come to training camp as a Laker if the team is remotely serious about this season. If he's there, then I think we're punting until Kyrie is a FA which is a dangerous waste of a year of an aging Bron for a "maybe."

I forgot to mention the picks. One or two FRPs would need to be included.

I don't get this at all - maybe somebody can explain this to me.

Ham says in a press conference, "he wants Russ to play defense, be a pit bull, POS defender...". Then, a report comes out that says you want Russ to shoot more corner three's.

After all that, you trade for a guy that does those aforementioned things. So, WB and Beverley are going to play the same role? Is that what Rob is thinking?

    LOL.

I think it means Russ comes off the bench or is all but gone already and they’re just trying to find the best deal.

I would bet 100% it's a luxury tax issue. Stanley makes more than Gabriel. And if they need to cut Gabriel, they can. So it does provide them more flexibility when it comes to a future trade, but it's also going to save some tax money in the long run.

In my opinion, in Nunn we are losing a 20mil+ value player and in Reeves a 10 million guy who cost us about 7 mil total so Indy can go stick it.

Pelinka doesn't have "tricks up his sleeve." He makes very obvious moves and (most times) overpays to do so. I remember when Magic brought him in, he was looked at as some sort of CBA/contract wizard but the reality is that he's really not that.

Agreed, our deadline is training camp. Hell it might even be Lebron’s player only camp thats the deadline. We need to start developing chemistry and an identity right from the start. Especially with a new coach.

I’m sorry but Nunn and Reaves are better than Hield and Duarte or Hield and McConnell. So you’re looking at reading Russ plus two firsts for Turner? Terrible trade…

Theres a real possibility of this being the case. Which you hate to see when dealing with as little money as the difference between Stan and Gabriel… it’s like we’re a back water team.

I'm not giving Indiana Reaves and Nunn + 2 FRP for Hield and Turner, that's too much. I'd consider just one of them, though. I love Reaves, we all love Reaves, but he's already 24 and put up 32% from three with an 11.5 PER, -1.9 BPM and 0.0 VORP. We've probably all gone too far in anointing him as a starter/key rotation piece going forward, he still needs to prove that he's a rotation player on a good team. I'd also point out that Lonnie Walker did not get the MLE to play spot minutes. Bev is older and will miss games, so there would be enough guard minutes for Bev/Nunn/Hield/Reaves/Walker, but I have a feeling the FO is willing to part with Reaves, bring in another depth guard (Schroeder) and play Brown at the 2 some if there's a trade they really like.

I don’t get that feeling per Handy and last year’s coaching staff. Bleep that as we already lost a similar player in Caruso.

I've said this before. Rob built the championship squad with Kobe in his ear. I believe Kobe had a huge role in that teams construction.
Since Kobe's passing (which I still can't believe) Robs moves have been subpar. I think he's on his way out in the next season or two.
He doesn't have Kobe guiding and advising him.
