oh no i agree with skip bayless on something.

don't understand how anyone gets excited about irving if you've watched the last 4 years. it's why nobody offered anything for him when he was demanding out.

Yeah but now Brooklyn seems to think that Kyrie and KD, presents their best chance to win now too. In spite of all that. They could have moved Kyrie if they really wanted to.

of course bkn thinks that, as each guy would have been traded for less talent. in kyrie's case, a LOT less talent because a) he's unreliable and b) he's a FA next year.

and i mean you can deal anyone at any time, as long as you're willing to take back anything. nobody was offering anything for irving, and there are great reasons why.

LeGM is maybe the most powerful player when it comes to personnel decisions we have ever seen. He has his own freaking agency. How many Klutch Agents have we signed since LeGM has been a Laker? It’s not a small number. Let’s not act like he’s on the same level of a guy like Dennis Schroeder.
Yes, Rob is the GM, but as he has proven over and over again, he can be easily swayed.
The guy is pretty much the polar opposite of the great Jerry West.
Yes, LeGM did help to bring in AD- I’ll give him that.

To me, it's all nullified by what he did the next offseason. If you let Caruso walk FOR NOTHING, then it proves you didn't know what made our roster great in the first place and you put together that championship team by accident.

Dude left of his own accord and got bent because he kind of wanted back in after doing everything in his power for other teams to beat us, as should he have. But it was personal and he made it that way with Jeanie, over his dislike of her having a relationship with Phil. None of his damn business at the time, and Doc Buss was still running things at the time.

Yes, it’s true. But AD could of came to us for free in FA. We opened up the max slot. We could offered them Ball, Kuzma, Hart and Muscala with the opposite being we just get AD in free agency anyway.

That’s what I mean we just bid against ourselves.

We tried that with Paul George and got burned. And we are less one title. No go on that theory.

This isn’t sourced information - but I do worry about Pelinka being “on the clock” for his job and making sub optimal decisions out of desperation. I remember distinctly how Buss/Kupchak did the same with Mozgov & Deng when they were in the same situation. It’s only natural.

IMO not the best tactical move, but hopefully Pelinka has one last trick up his sleeve!!

Pelinka's clock is broken. Just a matter of time before he will back to being an agent. His fake a** personality has ran it's course.

Long clock time frame though with his contract extended. Was said by someone here and sounds reasonable that he has at least this off season and next to do better. Then again people get fired after contract extensions all the time …. Vogel says hello.

this. we got AD for less than what the clips got PG for, imo. and we got the ring. keeping ingram would have led to The Veto Part Deux.

that trade was good and was well-played--in part due to wisdom gained from the absolute debacle that was the attempted PG deal (still haunts us today). no way it happens without ingram. not a chance.

offseason after that was great, too. everything since: junk.

This offseason is still a work in progress. I'll withhold judgment until after camp. There are some things I like so far and I don't think we are completely finished yet.

oh sure, a good russ trade that put us in contention without decimating the following decade would change my mind. i'm just not seeing positive signs currently. i'll be glad to be wrong. i'm hoping for it!

Yeah, battle of egos between West and Phil, with Jeanie in the middle. I still think a compromise should have been made somehow by someone so he could return home. I choose to remember him as the architect of the Kobe/Shaq dynasty. I was too young to see him play- maybe I’ll spend time, when I have it in the future, and get my hands on some of his best games.

If he gets next season as well, I hope ALL of LakerNation let Jeanie know that she is being way too lenient with him. He should be gone if Russ is still on this team at the start of training camp.

Rob can feel free to prove me wrong anytime he’d like.

I’d love to wake up tomorrow (or any morning before camp) and see that we’ve managed a fair deal for Russ.
