Man, adding Turner and Buddy would be great.

We get another shooter and Turner who can help, too. On paper, it would be so fun to watch.

Then, I think the Beverley trade makes more sense, IMO.

Agreed. Cranjis has sold me on Turner. I think those two with the other moves we made give us a solid mix of talent. If AD and LeBron are ready to roll that team can be in the mix.

The fact that wasn't yet mentioned is that we did this Pat trade out of the blue, meaning that we seem to have taken care of those insiders and have controlled the leaks.

That or yesterday Rob called Atinge out of the blue and said "THT and Stan for Pat". And Danny was like "oh...ok"

Wasn't exactly out of the blue. There were rumors we were interested in trading for Pat Bev weeks ago but then it went quiet after.

I think we offered THT and Stan or Gabriel (needed to make salaries work) and told Ainge to pick one.

But hey, at least this trade proves that we can work with Ainge. Maybe another trade is with them is in the works

don't think gabriel makes enough for the salaries to have worked. this is why i'm dubious that we're planning further dealings with utah. we could have waited if russ was going to be involved.

Theres a $500k difference between Stan and Gabriel… is that just outside the percentage we have to match?

    On Gabriel:

So it seems that THT for Beverly was already extremely close to working out in a one-for-one trade but we were short only $75k.

Gabriel’s contract is more than enough to make up that difference, but the problem is that it’s fully non-guaranteed. So as it stands right now, that doesn’t count towards trade matching apparently.

In theory I think it would have been possible to guarantee part of Gabriel’s contract (at least $75k), and then THT + Gabriel for Beverley would have been a legal trade.

But it sounds like Utah wanted SJ instead of Gabriel, and we didn’t say no.

In retrospect I wish Stanley didn’t have this awesome performance, probably gave Utah a close look at his potential and increased their desire for him in this trade.

So Johnson was basically thrown in because we were 75k short? What the hell is this 125% thing that keeps getting thrown up all about then? Because Talen and Bev's contracts weren't more than 125% apart. Abeer???

Yeah, name me a player who could develop alongside a LeBron James AND Westbrick. That’s an impossibility.

Yeah, we can “work” with Ainge, as long as he wins the deal.

Sure, Monk did quite well for us. Stan wasn't bad for a minimum contract, certainly. I mean, guys find ways to fit.

yeah, i trust pincus more than me on this:

    THT at 10,260,00 X 1.25 = 12,825,000

    bevs makes 13 even

the even swap couldn't quite happen. so a min salary has to be added, and in this case it actually didn't matter--I previously thought that the difference between gabriel and stan might matter (~500k). but it doesn't after i run the numbers. so rob got worked in a trade again, which should surprise nobody.
