I’m not sure how I feel about any of this. That’s a LOT of depth given up for Westbrook, who is still very good, but I doubt anyone is lining up to take on that contract.

The next step would be to get shooters. THT has been working very hard on his shot. IDK if they will bank on his improvement, or maybe they will offer him and/or Shroder, Caruso etc. for elite shooting? Possibilities?

    THT for Hield?
    THT, Shroder for LaVine,Young?

I don’t think the order would matter. With Westbrook trade, we wouldn’t be hard capped, so in theory I think that would actually give us the flexibility to give MORE money to AC and THT if necessary.

But then beyond that, we would have no trade assets. Pretty much would only have the MLE and veteran’s minimums to fill out the roster.

The depth we gave up was necessary from a salary matching perspective, but you are right. The only upside I see is it doesn't hardcap us, but in order to fill out the roster we will have to sign quite a few minimum guys.

Carmelo and “other good vets lining up to ring chase” allegedly?

Pretty sure Melo is getting fitted for a jersey as we speak. And I have no doubt the rumored line of vets are on Rob's speed dial for the opening of free agency.

They literally have no depth after this trade

The more I think about it, the less I like it

Lakers FO confident they can maneuver cap to use exceptions and minimums to fill out roster. Sentiment around the FO is free agents will be "lining up" to play with LBJ/AD/Westbrook trio. Particularly two players that can average 10+ assists easily (which also inflates their scoring #s and enables them to more easily land a better contract in subsequent years).

Alright, just please don't sign DeRozen! We don't need any more mediocre three-point shooters, right?

No depth with 2 old stars (one really old in terms of NBA miles in Lebron) and Mr. Glass in AD on top of it.
Feel like we had a great first year with AD and we're taking all the lessons from it (great chemistry, flexible defensive lineups, high IQ players) and just throwing it out the door

The goes directly against the report from a couple days ago that moving Russ would expedite Beal's request to get out of there.

No offense to our guys, but I don't think they are exciting depth to a superstar when you have no #2 option.

Westbrook move to LA will require a lot of work on the promotional side. Still waiting for the green light from the folks upstairs to put the wheels in motion.

We'll have zero shooting but good luck stopping us from going to the basket. No.1 points in the paint team hands down.

And NEVER forget that our FO and basketball evaluators (scouts) are just as good no doubt at rating players in the league already as those from obscure colleges no one ever heard of. ;) Has to be an easier job doing THAT. Amirite?

Westbrook basically forces you to run AD at the 5 for a huge chunk of time IMO. To enough spacing you need AD to be able to play inside or at the 3 point line. That moves Lebron the 4 where he goes from average 3 pt shooter relative to his position to a very good shooter and then you hope and pray AC and THT can develop their 3 pt shots

AC/THT/Russ are all big for their relative position so should be able to handle most 1-3 matchups except Kawhii types
