    GUYS!!

This is the biggest tell a Westbrook deal is coming. They had to include Stanley Johnson because we are likely getting multiple players back for one Russell Westbrook contract, and only have up to a 15 man roster.

Next trade WON'T be a Utah trade because we just did the Utah trade to get a POINT GUARD in Pat Bev. That means we have both our picks and we are going to send Westbrook+2 picks to........... Indiana probably, for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield.

    Starting lineup
    Beverly
    Hield
    Bron
    AD
    Turner

    I don't hate it.

2 years ago, there were only 2 active NBA players I legit hated.

1 - Russ, because I hated his inefficient brand of basketball and thought he was the most overrated player in the league
2 - Pat Bev, because he is the biggest clown in the league

now they are both on our roster

    somebody shoot me.

Passed on getting Lowry. Let AC walk. DS is available for free. And we go this route. Fail on multiple levels all for a guy who was in the express lane to the buyout market

Holding any real opinions until we see what comes next. On paper, good basketball fit if he ends up getting a big portion of the Westbrook minutes. Far better 3pt shooter, better defender, more efficient with the ball. All things we needed.

That’s a horrible trade, WTF!? I’d rather have Stan. Why do we insist on tossing away players we put effort into developing, good lord.

I know this is unpopular, but in a vacuum if I’m picking between THT and Pat Bev on the basis of fit/production this year… I pick Pat Bev every time.

And I don’t think THT had much value at all. Trading him for Pat Bev seems to be about the type of value I was realistically expecting from a THT trade. It’s the SJ inclusion that annoys me, but yeah I didn’t realize that the salaries wouldn’t work without him.

Reading impressions from other fans, including Jazz fans, many of them feel we got a steal by not having to include any picks.

I also don’t agree with the sentiment that Pat Bev was inevitably going to get bought out or that nobody else around the league wanted him. His salary isn’t very high, he’s an expiring. I could have seen another contender (or up and coming playoff team like Minnesota was last year) eventually trading for him if Utah had decided to keep him.

But yeah, totally agree that signing Schröder for free would have made more sense. Although, I don’t think Schröder has necessarily remained on the market because nobody wants him. I think things were on pause around the league due to the KD situation. It’s totally possible that Schröder actually ends up getting an offer that we can’t match. For example, I’ve read Suns fans propose they use their TPMLE on him.

Could even be that Ainge was playing hardball and demanding a second rounder in the Pat Bev trade, and we leaked the Schröder idea to gain some leverage.

We really need another trade to justify this one, which means this was a bad trade.

Last year we had the cleanest team in the league because just about every player was WASHED.

When it comes to dishing THT and the Manly Stanley, PB does not havet the jelly to justify this deal.

This is all we can get for THT? And to throw in Stan Johnson a player I really like as well. I don’t know, Rob. We’ve gone from AC Fresh to freaking Pat BevMo. Disgusting.

You cant have no jumper on the worst spacing team, THT's fit was just a disaster. He will need to get better at shooting, he will have plenty of opportunities in Utah. He and NAW will fix homelessness in Utah with all their bricks!!

FWIW, I'm hearing this is a precursor to an Indiana deal. It's still not done yet but Pelinka is pushing aggressively and trying to do everything he can to construct a package with just the 2027 FRP. (Backup plan is still the same: try to get shooters, deal Westbrook closer to the deadline, or get Irving in 2023 FA).

Logic behind this one is that LAL wanted to gain some shooting/defense at the PG position, understanding that AD/Turner should be able to make up for the wing/interior. They view this as getting rid of two non-shooters/1 dimensional players and getting back someone who can contribute in multiple ways. (There's also the salary component here, I was told this makes it easier for the backup plan of summer 2023 - but not a cap expert, perhaps others can clarify).

What confuses me is the FO had a strict mandate to get younger, but this does the opposite of that.

Either way exciting stuff, given this is the first step of a multi-step plan! Let's hope they can close things out with Indiana!!!

I guess this means we will overpay Utah 2 FRPs and Russ for Hield and Turner. No way we have a team with BevMo and Russ who hate each other.

Ah Mr Rambis beat me to it.
