hmmm...my amateur medical knowledge put up some red flags on turner (big+feet), but maybe i'm an alarmist.

jeanie omitting russ and namedropping nunn will be something interesting to look back on in two months.

agree with jsm that turner is probably similarly valuable to gobert, injuries aside, if only because i don't think the top 4 teams in the league can simply play turner all the way off the floor. regular season, obviously gobert's interior presence is pretty insane and singular.

i view hield as a net negative in that he's overpaid and not expiring and can be played all the way off the floor in a playoff series.

Yeah, you don’t not trade for Turner because you already have Bryant and Jones, that’s silly, always go for talent first. I, like abeer, have also read that his injury concerns are real because of the type of foot thing it is and if it goes south it’s BAD, but maybe I read wrong, that was a while ago now.

Regarding Russ being omitted, I saw a post from pickup hoops today that the only player who doesn’t currently have any footage working out or practicing at our facilities this summer is Russ (though I didn’t look into how accurate that was). I think there is a strong mutual desire to part ways. They also talked about on a podcast with Anthony Irwin and Aaron Larsuel yesterday that Utah can’t trade the players they traded for until like September 4th, so if we are going that route we won’t see anything happen for a bit, not necessarily for lack of trying.

Feet and back at definitely two of the most concerning areas for bigs. I do think the Turner injury could be overblown, Pacers definitely shut him down last year after it was clear he was not being moved. If they are overblown, that helps us. In a regular market for him (no injury concerns and on a longer deal) , he's waaaaay out of our price range.

With Turner's mobility, switchability, inside/out threat offensively; I don't see a team capable of forcing him to sit.

You definitely have to get creative with lineups if you want to use him in the playoffs and he has to be scorching the net or it's not worth the trouble. Ham has to protect him with four defenders next to him. I would like to bring him off the bench as a microwave player, but I think we might need to start him so that AD, Bron, and Turner can cover his deficiencies. It's also why I'd be looking to move THT for the closest you can get to a D&3 wing (mentioned a couple options a page or two ago). Then you should get enough from Brown, AR, my theorized trade target and maybe a DS (on a reunion tour) in certain lineups to keep Hield playable.

Larsuel seemed pretty confident that some trade is coming before camp. I didn't think our roster was finalized, there's just too many incomplete pieces/fits. But hearing it from someone on the payroll is always reassuring.

They touched on this too, but even if we don't deal with Utah it makes sense to wait for the trade restriction period to end because the more options and leverage you have, the lower your trade cost becomes.

I’ve been more supportive of the idea of Beverly than others, but this is absolutely disgusting

Only silver lining is that there’s NO way we bring Russ and Pat Bev into training camp together right?

Please let this be the fringe details of a larger Westbrook trade leaking first, because this deal sucks.

Rob, you better knock the Russ deal out of the park because this one is a F.

I don't hate this deal. Maybe its just because I'm expecting more to come.

Shams didn’t mention Stanley yet… I really hope he’s not included. Trading our only non-Russ trade chip in THT, and our best wing defender, for Pat Bev would be insane to me.

Trade can’t be legal until a few weeks though right since Pat Bev was recently traded to Utah? Wonder if this gets rolled into a larger Russ trade.

Or hold up, isn’t the rule that players recently traded can’t be traded to another team in a multi-player package for a certain time? But if it’s another one-for-one deal it’s okay? Maybe that’s a sign SJ isn’t included (or maybe I’m misinterpreting the rules)

If THIS was our Kyrie backup option and we head into training camp with this current roster, and I have to hear Rob pitch this as a big move, I legit may boycott this season

Why did they need to include Stan. He's like the only legit wing with size outside of Bron.

He made a big difference last year.

In isolation without any other moves, makes no sense. Assuming more to come

Just as I suspected, Ainge and his dirty little C Bags a** is gonna fleece us. This is a disgusting trade on the surface.

I'm going to be positive here.

    1. I think this means Russ is definitely getting traded. If we had any intention of bringing him back, the idea would have to be to put him in a better situation to succeed. I can't see us bringing in Bev in that scenario, everyone hates Bev but Russ really f***ing hates him

    2. Seems unclear if Stanley is in this. I know we all liked Stanley, he and Reaves were frankly the only bright spots, but Stanley seemed better in comparison to the rest of the roster than he actually is. He's a big, strong, defensive-minded wing, basically the ideal mold for a role player, and hasn't been able to stick with a team. He's too limited offensively to ever be a rotation guy on a good team. Loved the effort he gave last year, but I don't think he would have played much anyway with Brown Jr., JTA and AD playing more 4.

Okay calming down a bit, I feel like a lot of us had proposed a THT + second rounder for Pat Bev as a follow up trade after a Russ trade. It made sense as a backup PG fit for the roster after some of our Russ trade proposals (although significantly less sense once the idea of Schröder for the minimum started emerging).

So I’m going to hold my breath and see if there are other dominos to follow soon before I get TOO upset.

If hypothetically we’re getting back a wing that would have moved Stanley out of the rotation anyways, including him instead of a second rounder may actually be a wise use of assets.

Although I’m hoping that Woj is wrong and we end up keeping SJ anyways.
