Latest reports seem to confirm the rumblings I heard earlier. The problem is that in light of the news, proposed packages are dropping off in quality, making it even harder for BKN to justify making a deal. Expect this to continue until BKN is able to get an out!

Yep, Stein is about as good as it gets with reporting and sourcing. It's an interesting unfolding of events. KD is trying to apply whatever pressure he can (well, I might just retire then, when they told him they weren't going to fire Nash and Marks) while trying to still control the PR narrative with social media. Those are two very conflicting messages and maybe the Nets are one of Stein's sources in an effort to deflate KD's pressure by making that threat public.

I do think he's done with the Nets but not sure where he goes. I think he had his head set on joining Book and CP in Phoenix and I'm not sure he want to sit on his a** until January.

What I'm wondering if I'm one of the teams interested (Stein and others have touched on this) is what does KD want? What will make him happy? He's been on the best team in the NBA and was unhappy. He's the co-coach/GM in NYC as the #1 and is unhappy after they've given him everything he wants--Kyrie, Nash, DJ, Harden, to be #1 on the call sheet, no accountability. If he wants neither of those situations then what the f*** does he want? Can these teams give it to him? How do they prevent this from happening to them to after he guts their teams of players and/or picks?

i don't think kd ever said he'd retire. stein said that his source said that his source thought kd would rather retire. and stein rightfully owned up to kind of allowing the retirement phrasing swallow the rest of the story. this is how it's supposed to work, imo.

i'm not sure if phx has the pieces, tbh. i don't think bkn was bluffing when they said they didn't want ayton/bridges/picks. and as much as everyone fawns over phx of late, they're not really deep with top shelf talent. pair that with the nets probably preferring talent over picks in a deal for durant, and you've got a problem. same with miami--tyler herro is the centerpiece of a deal? you're going to have to eat robinson to even make that work?! i don't think so. and in philly, maxey's the centerpiece and you have to take harris, plus philly can only swap picks until 2029!

i think this is a good question. what's the thing i'm going to do that's going to piss this guy off? i think boston can taste the title and is willing to gamble on it, though. i actually think last year was a bit fluky for them, so i get why their management is kicking the tires on kd. and i think they can get him without giving up smart, too, which will make them the favorites in the east (right now, i think they're behind milwaukee and philly).

Right. KD just seems like he's never satisfied and I wouldn't want to give up much for him despite his obvious talent.

makes sense and isn't unfair of the nets. now, if they're asking for a gobert-level draft haul on top of it, it's a bit silly.

and as i was saying above, it's why phx was maybe never serious. ayton and bridges are not their second-best player.

and maxey isn't philly's second-best player, either. nor is herro miami's.

hopefully this means things are moving, and it's a signal from bkn to get your best offers in now.

i'm actually a bit nervous boston is going to get him for brown and white and not much else.

Boston still seems the likeliest destination to me. Already built team that got to the Finals for weak minded KD? Check. Best player available in trade return? Brown, check. Miami won’t include Bam. Suns won’t trade Booker.

However I wouldn’t do it if I were The C Bags. KD is great but you lose so much defense and all of a sudden your best talent is 10 years older than your core.

i still think toronto can make a couple different offers that don't involve scottie barnes, too.

They could but not sure it’s enticing enough for either the Nets or KD.

I actually feel like Toronto could pull something off here as well.

Not sure how well Durant's surliness will play in Boston.

siakam AND anunoby is a good talent return. and either one plus trent and some solid draft capital is worth considering, imo.

i'm not sure it's guaranteed (likely, but not guaranteed) that barnes ends up better than those two. if you can use his exclusion to get both, i'd do it.

It’s a good get but not as sexy as Brown.

i think both would be better than brown/white, if that's the deal boston's offering.
