If you're a 3-point specialist on a team with Luka drawing the entire defense, but still can't get on the floor, your time has probably passed.

Yuk on Hield and his contract... he shoots a lot of threes as a major part of Sac's offense and at a good clip but he won't shoot as many here with the floor time he'd get out of Vogel with that defense compared to Kuz. Regular season nba.com rates Kuz 18th in player defense and Statmuse rates him 11th. He boards at a higher clip and defends better. He shot 36.1 from 3, 3% worse than Hield. Buddy ranks 378th on D on nba.com (no statmuse rating, they do top 20 only), and has never played a playoff game. This was a rough playoffs going in without the benefit of a lot of playtime as a healed, jelling squad and hell, Vogel hadn't even figured out the center situation yet. I'm not blaming it on Kuz. And 3s count for a lot in today's NBA but even so their PER ratings are close, 12.80 Kuz and 12.85 Hield. Pass.

Good stuff. Lakersball alone will veto that deal. Where’s the Big Kahuna to draft the email to Lakers FO?

Why not blame Kuz?? He stunk it up 2 playoff years in a row. I am tired of people giving him a pass!!!

Why not acknowledge what he wrote that Hield sucks on defense and Frank is unlikely to play him unless desperate PLUS his contract? And that likely if Kuz has to go, we can do better?

I don't need to acknowledge Hield is not that great on defense. I never said he was. I responded to not blaming Kuz. Why is he getting a pass???

Then you were not responding to what you quoted, why I asked. Just complaining about Kuz. He told you why it wasn’t a good trade or worth taking on that contract.

Edit. I guess one part of his response you could take issue with but doesn’t mean Hield would be the best option if we move Kuzma or even a good one.

No clue what you are talking about. I said earlier if you paid attention, that the money is an issue, I then responded to a different poster about why does Kuz not get any blame. Jezz dude..

I amended one part of my response, but if you don’t get the entire point that it’s a bad trade the stats are right there with the logic.

I said "I'm not blaming it on Kuz". Do or think what you like, I didn't tell you what you should do. This is a board man, people express their opinions. I said why I'm not blaming him.

Man...who would have thought 4 seasons ago that we'd be talking about not trading Kuz due to his defensive metrics as opposed to his offense?

you could have your franchise identity and icon, or you could have three guys who recently did not at all deliver in the playoffs...your choice.

    wait...hear me out...tacos. free tacos.

Reality is the Lakers will have to resign Schroder to maintain a trade chip. Kuzma is signed so he stays. Caruso and THT will not demand much, likely they come back.

Trezz would have to know he will get more than 9 mil per to opt out. My guess is, someone might pay him 12-15 per for a couple years. Drummond isnt getting the big deal he thought he might get, there is a chance he stays, dont know.

Rob Pelinka will have to guess right. Doesn't matter how much he prepares or gets things together. He will have to guess correct on this AND hope there is a 3rd star that demands to come to LA like Harden demanded to go to the Nets. Simple as that. If not, you run it back next year with almost everyone from this year and hope the shots fall and AD prepares like Shaq did in 2000 so he can finally get rid of this soft label.

i could totally see the team returning but with drummond instead of trez as the third big. could also see a trade for a third star type if it makes itself available. i just don't see it now. derozan s&t would be the closest thing.

So we essentially swap out the full MLE (9.7 mil) from Trez to Drummond? Will the market be such that Andre will take that? It's a huge decrease from his last contract which was reaching 3x that amount, granted, he was overpaid and especially in this league's climate for traditional centers. His D is better playing alongside AD.

I'm still fantasizing about Zach Lavine. Something like Schroeder / Kuz / THT (Chicago kid) / 2-3 picks. Works in the trade machine. Zach would be a perfect young gun to run with AD as LeBron eventually fades.
