totally agree. that's not happening. but they're not trading them to US for less than that.

he also tends to miss large chunks of seasons and not even be there for the finals or prior. i'd take him, too, given our position. but that says more about our position than my esteem for irving.

Minnesota absolutely wrecked the trade market with that ridiculous package.

Sitting out games due to a Covid mandate isn't the same thing as being injured. I'd give him the same grace as I'm giving AD right now on the injury front. It's more than worth the roll of the dice for me. Kyrie would also be attached to Curry or Harris or both. That's two of the very best shooters in the NBA. That deal would be incredible, it makes us title contenders now, and we'd already have the next star to pair with AD on board.

that's the same thing from earlier, right?

and again, depends heavily on who exactly comes and what our role in the draft compensation is. because if all we're doing his helping the knicks lower their pick package, i have questions. bogdanovic/bev/reddish for a protected 1st and russ is ok by me, though.

Yeah, its definitely the least sexy of the trades that have been thrown around but we preserve cap space for next summer and turn Russ into a few players who at least fit much better (it has to be Bojan though, IMO).

    Beverly/Nunn
    Reaves/THT/Walker IV
    LeBron/Bogdanovic/Brown Jr.
    AD/JTA/Stanley
    Bryant/Jones

We'd at least have much better point of attack defense with Bev and Reaves, although Bev constantly being in foul trouble would get old quickly. Bogdanovic gives us at least one viable wing to slide AD down to the 5 when necessary. It would have to be a lottery or top-10 protected pick for me though, and obviously just one.

The heavy draft compensation has to come from NY…

Westbrook, a first round pick (hopefully protected) for Bev and ideally Bog… its not sexy but it might just do

I'm not giving up one draft pick for Beverly and Bogdonavic. Bump that noise

agree that it has to be bogdan. beasley would be next choice, but not at all preferable. no sense having clarkson on a team with THT/nunn/walker, imo.

bevs helps the starting unit set a defensive tone; bogdanovic is what we squinted and saw with melo.

again, i'd prefer a conley/bogdanovic package, and i think we could get it without having to pay heavily in draft picks.

if it's a protected pick? it's better than what's been floated. again--the nets weren't going to give us irving for two 1sts and russ. i truly believe we'd have just pulled the trigger when that got to the table, whether it came with harris or curry or whatever.

pat bev allows us to keep options open in case things go really terribly, i guess. but yes, i'd much rather conley--which makes more sense for utah, too, i'd add.

The money doesn't work for Beverly &Bogdanovich for Westbrook, Jazz would need to include something like Rudy Gay (who has a 6.5 option next season). I wonder what our picks are in this deal and if there even are any FRPs.

Alternatively, the Jazz could do Conley and Bogdonovich and the Lakers throw in another FRP from whatever they already have in the deal. I don't like having the extra year @ 24 million on Conley though in that scenario. You think the Jazz might just be happy to dump the contract, no FRPs, as they are rebuilding and Conley is overpaid with 2 more years.

Can we just get Kyrie/Harris or Curry please.

Kyrie & Durant are likely to stay in BK.

Lakers are reluctant to give up picks. They'll likely try to use THT & Nunn to improve the roster. Most likely, THT.

I think WB comes back next season. I can't get out what an Exec said last week about our situation with respect to Russ (paraphrasing): the Lakers are more likely to trade WB during the trade deadline; by that point, they'll have paid half his salary and a team will be more open to paying the remaining balance left on his salary for the season than paying $47 million or whatever his buyout is he outright (if he's bought out by the team he's traded to...)

I hope I'm wrong. I just don't see a path here without sacrificing significant assets. IMO of course.

A few months back I would have thought we wouldn't find ANY trade partner for Westbrook, not just because he's generally undesirable in most team systems but his expiring is so damn big that it would be unlikely to find other deals that are with great players or contracts that aren't long term. The fact that we are in several conversations is amazing to me.

IF we can get Bogdanovich and Beverly and some scrub(s) for Westbrook without any FRPs and only SRPs then hell yes, go for it Rob. They are expiring. Both are old but good. Then make a deal with the Pacers for Hield and Turner for whatever, THT and even both FRPs. Adding Hield, Turner, Bogdonavich & Beverly is a bonanza of high-tiered role players with a 2nd or 3rd tier star in there to boot. All of a sudden we are deep. And good. As an alternative to Beverly and to make the money work, Conley would be good despite his 2 years left. Depending on how Utah values him. It seems that in a rebuild they would like to dump.

    Myles Turner
    AD
    Lebron
    Hield/Lonnie
    Beverly/Nunn/Reeves (Conley?)

    Bryant/Jones
    Toscano-Anderson/Stanley
    Bojan Bogdonavich
    Lonnie
    Beverly/Nunn/Reeves

Man, if the best we can get for Russ is PatBev, kill me now. I rather buy him out or tell him to stay at home.

i can't believe i'm standing up for patrick beverley, but tbh, if we swapped him for russ--just him--we'd be dramatically improved. that's how bad russ was last year, while beverley had one of his better seasons and was an obvious positive impact on a historically moribund minnesota team.

again, i've been a huge bev hater for basically his entire career, but getting him on an expiring contract plus another guy who could play 25-30 credible nba minutes for russ would be fine by me.
