We all speculated that the Net's were leaking things and that would upset the other teams.

Always felt that was a bad strategy on their part especially when they are trying to milk the other teams for all they had.

short term results might be ok, but the damage long term for future deals could be something that they really regret

I've said it for years, if you are even only 10% slower or less effective as a shooter or passer or defender in the NBA, then you lose, 90-100

media should honestly thank Kyrie and the Nets for giving them the many stories they have been able to squeeze out of this.

it's an interesting headline considering the full text of buha's response in that q&a. first, it's clearly his conjecture. and second, his response was probably the most doubtful framing of kyrie-to-la i've seen. he accurately points out that bkn may decide to keep him or may decide to trade him for players instead of picks. he also--again accurately--points out that kyrie's a total wildcard and by the time FA rolls around, who knows where his head's going to be?

the interesting bit from buha to me was that he basically presented it as fact that the lakers haven't included a 2nd 1st in ANY negotiations so far. i honestly thought we'd have offered both for kyrie (with some protection on at least one, of course) just to get it over with.

as we debated on here, i was fine not offering both for turner/hield.

Forget about when FA rolls around, I'd be curious where the situation stands at the trade deadline. It's Kyrie. There could be a whole lotta uncomfortable going on by then. And let's say they pull in some decent players from moving KD and are vying for the playoffs or play-in and Kyrie's in there stirring the pot....

I'm pretty certain we will, but I think the consensus from those covering the team is that we're not going to make our best offer in July or August. There's no benefit to doing so. If KD moves soon (seem doubtful) , that could all change, otherwise our best offer won't be presented until we're ramping up for training camp.

It's a week-old message, I'd say things didn't move much on that front.

But the message referred to a promotional meeting that was supposed to have happened early this week. That sounds like the kind of thing that someone in Mr. Rambis’ alleged role would be in good position to update us about. If the promotional meeting was rumored to be about restarting work on promo for Kyrie, I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult for someone in that role to at least confirm whether or not it had anything to do with Kyrie.

Or, just throwing it out there… if I was a fake insider trying to string along people about my credibility, then I might have seen Lebron’s extension date as being a possible trigger to a Kyrie trade… and so why not put out some vaguely promising scoop the week before? If a trade happens, you get a lot of credibility. If not, well things were vague enough so you don’t get any negative hits to your rep.

Of course that’s an outlandish hypothetical though… obviously I’m a good LB’er and have the upmost faith in Mr. Rambis! :wasntme:

Or maybe, the promotional meeting ended up being where Lakers brass decided on the strategy of having Jeanie pretend to have her Twitter hacked so they can scam a few dollars off Laker fans desperate for a PS5 :D

Mr Rambis just implied that something MAY happen. I was never questioning his credibility at all and I'm not sure where the suggestion that I did came from, I certainly am not suggesting he is a fake insider at all. Sometimes things don't pan out or happen. No biggie, he is trying to keep us, let's call it preemptively notified, a meeting probably happened but the Nets can say nay to any and all proposals. As for Kyrie hype, it's never gone away. Nothing has changed, at least from outward appearances.

And I never intended to suggest that YOU are questioning his credibility.

I guess my sarcasm wasn’t clear; I am questioning his credibility.

“Somethings things don’t pan out or happen”, that’s such an easy defense for any fake insider. You could use that same argument to defend Arye Abraham or RDAmbition.

Based on the nature of his last update, I think the narrative of Mr. Rambis’ role suggest that he owes up a follow up. He should have some level of clarifying info by now.

And I totally acknowledge that if he is who he says he is, maybe he’s just too busy to update us. And I’m a privileged jerk for taking his scoops for granted and expecting immediate updates.

If that’s the reality of the situation and Mr. Rambis reads this, I’d hope he’d understand why someone like me would approach his info with a healthy dose of skepticism, and understand that I mean no personal ill will.

Got it. If anything, I really don't get what "folks on the promotional side" have to do with a deal for Kyrie. They're promotion. Unless it is to do with propaganda and in that case I can't see how that is healthy to put true information out early in a forum as it does the opposite of helping the propaganda by exposing it.

Yes, and many apologies for the delay. One takeaway from the meeting is that a few threads on the Kryie front are back in motion, which means there's some optimism.

However the largest Kyrie efforts are still on pause until the Durant saga either dies out or kicks into third gear. As in my previous post, LAL is hoping that either BKN gives up on Durant and decides to deal Kyrie regardless, or they finally get serious about being reasonable in Durant negotiations. Since there is pressure from Silver on that front, it's unclear how this plays out. I'm not surprised that Durant wanted to meet with Tsai shortly after I heard about the headwinds from the league office. I don't know the details of, but I imagine Durant has a lot on his mind!

Once this is all cleared up, hopefully soon, our path forward will be laid out!!
