We won a Chip with AD. Since then, it’s been rough, but I think that makes it worth it.
The “What If” game is an endless merry go round of misery.
What if we had decided to wait for AD to become a Free Agent, he played out that year in NOLA and suffered a major injury, near the end of the season, that took him out of the game for an entire calendar year? This game cuts both ways.

    Bill Russell RIP

To average half as many boards as that man did today is considered superstar center rebounding.

Do not want Randle. Maybe had we built the roster differently, but as is we’d be adding to the worst 3 point shooting team out there. If we were to take on Randle and Fournier’s contracts the Knicks would have to give US draft picks.

absolutely. and i'd consider it. what if we got a 1st and a swap to take on randle and fournier? i know it's not very lakers-y, but...i'd consider it.

and while i've cooled on randle, the idea of defending with randle/AD/lebron as the back line is pretty exciting to me. each of them can stand ground against almost any big AND chase most smaller guys.

i don't think this is happening at all, though.

Thinking about it, Randle's big value to us is contingent upon him getting his 3pt shot back and spreading the floor. Dropping 10% from 41% to 31% in one season while taking the same amount of attempts (5.5) is scary. Granted he lost his PG when Rose went done last season. Maybe Phil Handy can straighten him out or Lethal Shooter or someone like that. His shooting dropped across the board. IF he handles that it's not that bad a prospect. It forces AD to play the 5, spreads the floor, he boards very well, is dangerous inside, maybe he can learn to play some D backing 2 superstars, he has the strength. His contract is not that bad. Only 23 million next year but it's 4 years. The other thing is we could pull a deal without using our draft picks. Also, come the trade deadline we could potentially move him and THT to the Nets for Kyrie if they hang on to him. They'll be dying to move him by then.

I honestly wouldn’t mind Randle. He’s athletic enough to play 3-5, and provides quality depth if Lebron or AD is out with injury. Unless it’s Kyrie, I don’t see the need to trade for a guard because we already have a ton of them. We just would need to find which one would be a capable shooter. Randle gives us our versatile big wing back, which we foolishly got rid of Kuz for.

in some ways, randle is just kind of a bigger russ, so...there's that. but at least he's bigger! and while he had a disappointing year last year, it was still MUCH better than russ's year.

again, though, i don't see this happening at this point and do think it would require draft compensation coming to us.

Randle's interesting mainly for his size. I do think he'd at least try to do what was asked of him by Ham which puts him a notch above Russ for me but I also don't see the deal happening at this point.

That said, despite Brooklyn dragging their feet I think Kyrie is still the deal with the best chance of happening since he's a big name and could help.

If it wasn't the Pacers we'd have made a fair deal for Turner and Hield at this point. Their asking price is too high right now which also keeps the Kyrie thing alive for the front office IMO.

The posturing and flat out delusion of these teams has really impacted the entire trade market this season and I hope Silver is pushing that message behind closed doors.

We don't have a lot of guards. If we trade Russ, Nunn is the only PG. If he's healthy we can live with it and play big with him, THT and Reaves occupying that slot but it's thin nonetheless.
    He's big Russ for sure.
And a large long contract that doesn't move the needle moving forward. We will have less cap space in the future with a guy that won't allow us to build a championship team. Rather have the Russ expiring.
He's too similar to AD too, don't think they can work together well in a long season.

FA market is pretty weak next year, and maybe the year after that. i'm not into cap space plans in general.
