I’m all on board for Hield. I know we always joke about shooters losing their touch in LA, but Hield would be the best shooter on the Lakers in recent memory. I honestly think he would go the reverse direction, and only improve playing with Lebron.

Definitely want to keep KCP though. Would be nice to always have one of either Hield or KCP out there to space the floor. Kuz, Harrell, and 22 for Hield is a lot, but I think I pull the trigger. If we could get another asset or cheap rotation player back too, that’d be nice.

Outside of a deal like that, I’m not expecting too many fireworks. A lot of the big names being thrown around seem implausible, like we’re being name dropped by other teams/agents for ulterior motives rather than these moves being real possibilities.

It sounds like Buddy is the target, then they can focus on a PG or a stretch big.

I’m warming up to the idea of Hield, but I don’t want to trade Kuz and KCP for him + whatever. Kuz and Harrell or Schroeder… sure

I got a bad feeling about Hield and I hope for our sakes I’m wrong. We’re giving up way too much for an average player IMO. Only way I’m Ok with this is if another star like Derozen or Westbrook are on their way here too.

Kuz, Trez, AND the 22nd pick seems like a little much for Buddy Hield. He’s good, but come on, the players alone plus like a 2nd rounder should be enough. Kuz is on a good contract and Trez had a very good season.

That's giving too much for Hield, he hemorrhages points on the other end, that's why Luke hates him. Plus he looks like a horse

I think KCP is better than Hield. Would do it for Kuz and Harrell though. As for the pick, I would try to save it as much as I could in this deal

We've been lacking a 2nd wing for 2 seasons and we're still looking to add/trade for shooting guards .... meh.

An above average SF + Bron/AD at the 4 AND 5= unstoppable .

Wings are harder to get but still we have been in the wrong, roster construction wise imo

kcp is better. and he's younger. and he's cheaper. if he goes in the deal, that's moronic.

we're a defensive team. going away from that is a bad idea.

yikes. i get it; paying him a lot would scare me, too. but it takes some cajones to basically walk away from 40% of the AD haul to make a FA bid for kyle lowry, who's likely using you to up his price.

and i get that he's restricted, so they can play this game a bit and not get burned. but in reality, the cat's out of the bag that neither side is that interested in reuniting. if this is how they felt, they should have traded him last year, ahead of RFA.

I heard a trade idea on the Locked on Lakers podcast suggesting the Lakers should target Harrison Barnes instead of Buddy Hield.

It actually makes a lot of sense. Barnes and Hield are basically the same age, provide about the same 3 point shooting percentage, but Barnes is the much better defender and is on a shorter contract.

been saying this for weeks. barnes is what people want kuz to be, and kuz may actually be what sac would prefer barnes be (younger, cheaper, better fit in an uptempo system).

btw, not that this would happen, but kcp/kuz/trez is juuuust enough salary to bring back hield and barnes.

i wonder what kind of upheaval is being caused by none of simmons/beal/lillard moving. i think a lot of plans were being held up contingent on those guys moving. will everyone hold onto their current situations? or will we see a massive flurry of these smaller trades?

i'd probably opt for the latter because if lillard or beal doesn't move today, i don't think they move until the deadline at earliest, so that means any trades/signings that happen now will be moveable by then.

for us, this means that you give up a westbrook dream knowing that if you really want to revisit it, it may be easier to get done in february and can involve pieces you get now if need be.

warriors are screwed, though, as i don't think they had any intentions of making those two lotto picks.

i'm not opposed to running it back (more or less) the first half of the season and then revisiting various trade scenarios before the deadline... although, i would like to see some sort of exciting transaction this afternoon just so all this prognostication wasn't in vain -- but i won't hold my breath.

if we're smart about re-signing schroder (short years, bigger money), he's more useful in trade later, as BYC is not an issue. same with THT and AC. we'll just have a lot more/easier paths to completing big trades later in the year.

Yeah. I like Barnes more and I would think there's a path to get him but who knows what an organization like the Kings are thinking.

I would pull the trigger pretty quickly on Hield and Barnes though.

Yeah. We discussed this a bit a couple of days ago. I'd be content with Barnes.

some rumor that the sixers are trying to trade for hield. guessing their offer is george hill/seth curry (it sort of has to be).

if pels also not bringing hart back n we do end up trading kcp, id love to bring Hart back, he has improved his 3pt shooting and tough defender, between him n tht we'd have a nice guard tandem
