lakers still have that small rondo trade exception, right? it's possible that some team needs to offload a small salary and we could take that into rondo's exception and then turn around and aggregate (believe there's a small window for such things) into a deal for hield.

but that would be awful and stupid. nunn is more valuable than hield by himself if he's healthy, makes 1/4 his salary, and plays a position of need. boo.

now, THT/nunn/1st for turner (no hield)...i'm listening. in fact, i'm in. having turner at center might even allow us to play russ at pg and not have to worry about offloading him unless a deal we really like comes up.

lol. i know everyone's going to make fun of the lakers for it, but in the context of us negotiating for kyrie, it's sort of a funny troll from our FO.

marks: give us russ/THT/reaves/eleventy picks for kyrie
    rob: for kd

It would have been a funny negotiating tactic… but I still hope nobody clowns on us based on a fake report from a meme account.

I'd still like to get Buddy: I think on the Lakers he'd be awesome.

He's been played as a playmaker ala Steph Curry because of his shooting. Outside of his shooting, he doesn't have the handle, finishing or smarts to be anything like Curry despite being a great shooter.

On the Lakers as the 3rd or 4th option, he would be awesome IMO. Lakers haven't had any guy be a shooter like Hield: even Ellington. All those shots that Brick, Kuzma, Caruso, Bradley got thru the years, are layups for Hield. Think Ray Allen on the heat or all the Cavs shooters - Lakers would light it up. We've seen this happen to talented but flawed guys all the time: in a reduced role where they are maybe the 4th option they shine: Wiggins just did it last year. Hield ain't anywhere near the defender that Wiggins is but on offense he could have a similar impact on the Lakers

Really like the Indiana trade as the days go by: it not only opens the floor, the fit is really good as it allows AD to be AD. A PF who just destroys small ball lineups and is a mismatch on offense/defense.

i can split the difference. hield is overrated (really, just overpaid at this point maybe), but i agree that he's a guy who would look better in a support role and as a 5th starter rather than a guy who's supposed to carry an offense.

but he still can't defend or really do things besides shoot, so he's not worth giving up THT/nunn/picks.

but yeah, the westbrook deal that we tried to make was a good one. indy was just trying to rook us, so we walked.

A lot has to do with context. On Golden State, Hield would be just another end of the bench guy. On this Lakers team as currently constructed he instantly becomes our best three point threat and provides some spacing for both AD and LeBron. On the offensive side he makes us better.

I think Turner and even Hield can help us.

I just wouldn't give up all of our assets for them. Indiana wants to fleece us and I think it was smart to walk away.

Another possibility would to package Russ and THT together. Indiana is under the salary cap so they would easily be able to absorb both as long as we take a small filler.

    Russ +
    THT +
    Draft compensation

    for

    Hield +
(Nesmith or Brisset or other filler)
