i think boston got a bit lucky last year, and i'm not sure they can expect to repeat those results, even with the brogdon upgrade (one issue with that upgrade is that they can only play 5 at a time, and moving brogdon into lineups means trading offense for defense).

it's possible boston put brown's name in there solely to up the offers from competitors, too (talk about bored speculation!). as in: they don't want kd going to toronto for a weak package.

i meant the inactivity was bad, particularly given all the anticipation. most of this is out of the news cycle. it's really just us nerds around here discussing it. and as you said, it prevents any substantive discussions about the upcoming season because everyone knows that a lot can change. hell, those vegas betting lines didn't include us, bkn, utah, or the knicks, right?

True. Giannis is the best player in that conference. And probably the league.

Milwaukee wins in 6 with a healthy Middleton, IMO.

Wondering how much Brogdon can move the needle for them.

Unless they're aiming for a home run, which could possibly be the case.

Was in the Athletic. All I can copy and paste. That was the only Lakers blurb.

Good info if somebody can copy the whole thing, please?

Lowe made a great point on one of his recent podcasts; this is the first team in two years that there's been a normal offseason with vacation time for the front office guys. The turnaround from the bubble to 2021 was super quick and last summer was abbreviated as well. This past week or so has certainly been a lull, I think this C Bags report signals a bit of a ramp back up in the next few days.

Those are my thoughts too. At some point Silver is going to have to nudge these things along for the good of everyone.

Maybe Brooklyn really wants Brown and thinks he's the best player they can realistically get in a trade or KD really thinks he and Tatum can get it done. Not sure the angle here either.

I don't get it either unless they think last year's team was a fluke. I could see them still being worried about a healthy Bucks team but I'd think they would be right back in the mix if Tatum continues to improve and Brogdon is healthy.

I'm m reaching, admittedly. Brogdon isn't going to preclude the C Bags from making an offer on Durant.

It would be malpractice if a GM didn't at least inquire, right?

    Hope they still implode.

C Bags got super lucky with avoiding injuries throughout the entire playoffs. that, and the way horford and smart hit clutch 3s whenever they needed to got boston all the way to the finals

they upgraded with brogdon but his health is always a question mark and i just can't see them getting all those bounces to go their way two years in a row. if the bucks had middleton they would've beat boston for sure and i think they (milwaukee) is still the best team in the east

From Boston's perspective, getting Brogdon for nothing makes it much easier to digest a trade involving Smart or White. If you trade Brown/Smart or White/picks for KD, you're basically just upgrading Brown from KD from a roster perspective because you now have Brogdon filling that roll.

Me too. I don't want them to get to 18.

Yeah. Especially if Brogdon can stay healthy.

I think I would prefer the indiana trade as long as any FRP picks are top 5 protected
Turner and Hield just fit so well with what the Lakers need and would make the Lakers both better on defense and offense while provided much needed depth.

Kyrie is a magical offensive player but teams have been hunting him in the playoffs on defense. Turner is a rare center who can stay on the court against small ball lineups and it's easier to hide Hield or just not play him in critical stretches

Oh, the story line of drama on top of drama that would create. Does Ceepo Alien Commish even understand these undercurrents?
I never liked Stern, mainly because of the CP3 debacle, but he understood there’s more to this than meets the eye.

Those two guys from Indy are barely worth ONE first. I will applaud Rob if he doesn’t cave to them.
You NEVER lose a trade just to tread water and be in the playoffs.
    This is not the way.
