I feel like I need to post this everyday.

You can't put a square peg in a round hole- I don't care how many times Ham or anyone else says you can.

Reportedly, the reason RW fired his long time agent was him telling him that the Lakers "new plan" for Westbrook, which would lessen his minutes and make him more of a role player; and his agent pointing out that said change would ruin his value with his next contract (which it will as opposed to him doing what he always does and be a triple-double, awful shooting, awful defending and awful +/- turnover player who will continue to try and get those to overvalue him because of said triple double stats).

RW doesn't fit....period. A return of him on the roster is basically writing off next season competing for a title.....period.

The only true fix, because of our limited funds and assets....is Kyrie Irving....period.

Sure, you can trade THT if you want and whatever 2nds you want as well, but that only takes from your assets in a later potential Kyrie deal...

Indiana is NOT trading Myles Turner in any package for RW unless we add one if not two of our 1st round picks (2027/2029).
They can trade him elsewhere and get a better package that we can offer.

if his agent was advocating against that role, why did his public statement reflect the exact opposite, like literally?

and clearly nobody's fooled by his counting stats anymore. he'd be tradeable if so.

i'm not sure if that gets us there, either. i'm just trying not to suck again, because that's no fun. only one team wins a ring every year. i'll take the season from two years ago over last year any day. i simply don't understand the title-or-bust mindset at all, as a fan.

i think that's great. bkn is trying to take us for every asset, so let's just have fewer for them to take!

indiana traded brogdon--who's basically the guard version of turner (oft-injured, sub-allstar, 20m per, young-ish, starting caliber player)--for junk and a 1st (the 1st is boston's 2023, which is almost certain to be 22 or lower, so even weaker than a future lotto-protected pick). they didn't even get to dump hield in the deal.

now, will they do that for us? probably not. but turner's going for a late first eventually is my guess.

i'd give a lotto protected 1st plus russ for hield and turner. i'd do that over a kyrie deal, tbh. i just don't trust kyrie at all. if he's not hurt, it's something else. it's always something.

Kyrie isn't my first, second or third choice, but I suppose having guys like Handy, LeBron, and even AD around could help keep him focused if he isn't injured.

It's all about the total packages for me. I value the picks more as an asset than the actual players but I do get not wanting to clean the cupboard right now for anyone as we won't have those assets to use if another big fish becomes available.

Going with the reports, it seems very likely at least one pick is going out in a Russ deal. I definitely don't think Indiana is going to make any trade with us without trying to get some combo of picks.

With that in mind, if I'm giving up the pick I want the best shot at a title I can possibly get. Of the players that have been thrown out there, I think I'd honestly rank Kyrie and Harris/Curry above Hield / Turner even considering all the side issues with each player.

I just don't think Hield is that good. I like Turner but he's had his own injury issues.

There's a good chance most of these guys being named will miss chunks of the season so for me it comes down to who I could hopefully have healthy and ready to go on a playoff run with. Again, despite all my issues with him, I have to pick Kyrie and whoever else we can pull in with him.

Yeah, if we could pull something like this for just Russ that would be nice.

almost all russ options are bad. that's just the long and short of it. and yes, any russ deal that doesn't have us eating an absolute albatross contract will require one of our firsts, i'm pretty sure.

hield's not good, but he's not an albatross (think how the mavs had to take bertans in the porzingis trade).

i'm still fixated on conley and disappointed we haven't been linked to him at all. seems like a natural fit for both teams (utah's trying to lose, we could use a vet pg).

    1) Of course his agent wants to get paid and if you read between the lines in his statement, he is NOT advocating for the new role, which will mean less stats, which will mean less dollars, which will mean less agent %- common f***ing sense

    2) No they aren't the same. Team traded for Haliburton, who they intend to build around and that more than anything led to Brogdon's exodus. No, not the same as trading Turner; who they like but wanted to upgrade with Ayton...they can get more in a trade than RW and just a 1st a half decade from now (protected or not)....insane people think RW will get those two without THT+ and minimum 2 picks, one being said UNPROTECTED first rounder....MINIMUM

    3) The let's just have fewer for them to take is just asinine, so I cant reply to that one lol

    4) No one is saying adding Kyrie 100% "gets us there"....but yes of all things proposed it is the only real viable option presented that GIVES US A CHANCE

    5) Don't get the win or bust mentality? Huh??

It is the LAKERS DNA (unless the are rebuilding) it is ALWAYS TITLE OR BUST....all Lakers fans (or should) know this

    6) Buddy can't guard AT ALL. I hate that Pelinka is still on him. We should be all in on Irving (and try and get Curry/Harris) and use THT+ (second round picks/exceptions/Nunn) for a WING....period...

    first: check yourself, seriously.

    anyway:

    https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-media...tedly-shocked-by-how-their-relationship-ended

    his actual statement:

his agent explicitly states that he should accept the role offered to him with the lakers, quite literally the exact opposite of your reading-between-the lines.

throwing a max offer at a guy who plays the same position as the guy you have isn't a vote of confidence, nor does it inflate his value. we'll see what he goes for.

not asinine if you don't want irving or don't want to lose by bidding against yourself. part of rob's indy dance may simply be that he's about to give them one of the firsts you're asking for--iow, he's serious about you not getting two of them.

it's not a good chance. rather not hamper the franchise a decade in the future for that.

it's rhetoric, not reality. the ricky bobby philosophy is ridiculous, and any sober executive would admit to it. hell, jeanie's most recent interview basically suggests that not even she buys the line, even though i'm sure she's said it on numerous occasions. the idea is to field a good team. the more often you do that, the better your odds are at nabbing a ring. big swings and misses are incredibly costly. ask the nets (twice).

we have no idea how serious he is about buddy. again, we'll see. and if THT/nunn/2nds could get a substantial wing upgrade, they'd be here by now.

not that i'm a huge beasley fan, but we shouldn't let two-way contracts dictate other moves in any way, shape, or form.

he can ask for a release if he doesn't like playing with his stepfather.

    1. No, reading between the lines is something THAT ISN'T SAID. Westbrook (latest accounts suggest this to be the case) is not looking to change the way he plays. OF COURSE his agent wanted him to stay with the Lakers because trading him would almost assuredly lead to a buyout and once a player hits there- it likely over for him EVER commanding the type of contract he was used to. So his embracing can be taken with a grain of salt, because accepting a lesser role WOULD ALSO hurt his value- which has basically been limited to being a triple-double machine for year now while being a net negative with everything else...that is what reading between the lines means. More reports have come out that have CONTRADICTED the position that Westbrook "wanted out" or "had other ideas" and that the agent was not really advocating for the "new role" but relaying his position that his client is worth more than what other teams were suggesting

    2. I REPEAT it is wishful thinking that the Pacers will trade both Hield and Turner in a package for RW and just one 1st round pick. NOT HAPPENING. THT + will almost assuredly have to be included.....PERIOD

    3. It is in fact ridiculous to use any assets for Hield (specifically 1st round picks) when Irving may yet still be an option....period. No one even remotely said using a threat is/or isn't advantageous. Giving either of them up would in fact be DUMB.

    4. A healthy AD/Kyrie/LeBron threesome actually is an excellent chance (especially if you can surround them with shooters and defenders)....not good? huh???

    5. You used even more rhetoric. Doesn't change the fact that unless the Lakers are in fact rebuilding it will ALWAYS BE ABOUT WINNING A TITLE....period.

    6. You don't know that. Just based on his moves so far he seems more inclined about adding youth and now shooting and has ignored size on the wings....regardless it doesn't change what my opinion is in that he SHOULD be looking for wing help instead...

Just an observation on your posts, no offense …. but for opinions (yours) you use a LOT of “period” or “PERIOD”.

    Really?

Yes, I know what it implies. It doesn't mean I have any authority for that to be end of discussion or to prevent replies.

So in that context it only means "it should be the end of discussion" lol
