As someone who follows European Football closely and the transfer market over there, European Sports "Journalists" are even more clickbaity than ours, and they love playing the same "name major franchise to get clicks" game that ours do.

This was the first signing the Jazz made this offseason. We get what they're doing. They're nuking the roster. But I believe Memphis hasn't made any moves since draft night and that's a little curious. Wonder what they have cooking. I've seen them listed as one of the long shot teams for KD but I think that's a reeaaaally long shot.

Folks, still a stalemate with LAL & BKN. Word out in summer league is that Durant is being mindful not to push BKN too aggressively to avoid extra media backlash. And as we all know, until Durant goes, Irving talks won't move forward.

If (and hopefully when) Irving talks pick up again, I will be sure to pop back in with an update.

Don't want to leave on a purely negative note though, so I will say that I've been hearing fantastic things about Coach Ham! LeBron and the others are fully onboard and committed to making this next one a successful season under his system!

    Take care!!!

There's a way for all teams involved in 6-team mega trade to get what they want between Lakers/Nets/Utah/Knicks/Heat/Indiana:

Lakers trade Westbrook, THT, Nunn, 2027 1st, future second rounder
Lakers receive Kyrie, Buddy Hield, Clarkson, Rudy Gay
Why the Lakers do this: Lakers get their upgrade in Kyrie, only give up 1 first rounder, a second, and Rob gets his man in Buddy Hield for basically THT+2nd. The Lakers starting lineup is suddenly respectable with Kyrie/Hield/Lebron/AD/Bryant. They actually add to their depth too by getting Rudy Gay and Clarkson on shorter contracts.

    Nets trade KD, Kyrie
Nets receive Tyler Herro, RJ Barrett, Kyle Lowry, Myles Turner, Reddish, Lakers 2027 FRP, 3 future Miami firsts
Why the Nets do this: They face facts and realize they don't get the 2 superstars+multiple picks for KD, but they get a respectable 3 picks because they are also getting Barrett/Herro/Turner who helps you build around Simmons. They also get Lowry on a short contract and can help reset the culture. The Nets don't have their own picks so they don't have incentive to tank, this trade keeps them competitive. The Nets take in less salary so they also save about $10 million in salary for this season, which also saves them about $30 million in luxury tax.

Utah trades Mitchell, Rudy Gay, Clarkson
Utah receives Westbrook, Toppin, Grimes, Quickley, 4 Knicks FRP
Why the Jazz do this: Utah wants 5 of the Knicks picks, but will they settle for 4 if they can also get to dump Clarkson/Gay's salary a year early? If they do this? They end up having a ton of cap space next summer. They will have only Conley and Vanderbilt as their two large contracts on the books. From a Danny Ainge standpoint, Getting 9 first round picks and a clean cap sheet in one year for Mitchell/Gobert would be perfect for a rebuild.

Knicks trade Barrett, Reddish, Toppin, Quickley, Grimes, 4 future first round picks
    Knicks receive Mitchell
Why the Knicks do this: They are the Knicks and will see sending 4 picks instead of 5 as a victory as they get a 25 year old all star. A Mitchell/Randle/Brunson trio is interesting.

Heat trade Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry, 4 future first round picks (3 to Nets, 1 to Pacers - protected)
    Heat receive KD
Why the Heat do this: They get KD for a pretty low asking price. Lowry had to be in the trade because there's no other way to match salaries. Nobody wants to take on Robinson's awful contract so I took that into consideration.

Indiana trades Buddy Hield, Myles Turner
Indiana receives THT, Nunn, Miami 1st rounder, Lakers 2nd rounder, Miami 2nd rounder
Why the Pacers do this: Salary dump of Hield and his 3 year contract. Hield isn't worth his salary, especially to a rebuilding team. Under normal circumstances, the Pacers would have to attach a pick to salary dump Hield. They get a Miami first for giving Turner to Brooklyn. Similar to the Jazz, after this trade the Pacers will have about $90 million in cap space next season

It’s the dog days of NBA summer lol. It’s basically all the nba trade rumours rolled up into a mega trade where the salaries match and the deal makes sense for every team involved

Thanks for the update! It does feel like that, at some point, Durant needs to decide he's crossing the Rubicon. He requested the trade, but with 4 years left he needs to do more than that. Maybe its not showing up for training camp, maybe its doing an interview with the media member he trusts most. But if he wants to be on another team next season, he needs to make Brooklyn feel like they need to move him. Right now, it seems thats not the case.

The Utah Jazz have agreed on a two-year, $6.25M deal with Italian forward Simone Fontecchio of Baskonia in the Spanish ACB, his agent Sam Goldfeder of @ExcelBasketball tells ESPN. @DraftExpress considers Fontecchio, 26, the best available international small forward prospect.

2022 is officially the worst NBA free agency period in years. I can't remember the last time July was a dud like this. NBA really s*** the bed on this one. They are usually the undisputed Champs of the off season in any league in the world.
