FWIW from a Spurs insider after Ayton situation was resolved. Of course take with a grain of salt.

Looks certain that both picks will be gone if we get Irving. I hope we can get two of Harris, Curry, and Mcdermott at least.

and no way bkn allows an irving trade in which they receive only cap savings and a protected 1st, so they'd demand it unprotected, too.

how about...they both go kick rocks?

exactly. they have to spend a minimum. who's giving them an unprotected pick just to offload salary (unless it's multi-year salary)?

i'm getting more and more comfortable just rolling into an awkward camp with russ on the roster. our other options are pretty bad, imo.

Just do this already! There doesn’t seem to be anything else out there that could allow us to flush Russ and immediately turn us back into a real contender.

Pop and Russ could embrace in a coil of Lakers hate. Or .... would Pop even put up with him and try to play him?

It's Pop's final year. Good time to start drinking. Watching that pairing would hold great popcorn value.

Why? Russ is one of the best “tank commanders” in the NBA.

Agreed. I'm worried that if we keep letting this drag out, Durant changes his mind and they're not moving Kyrie either. This is the one move on the board that gives us any sort of chance to compete for a title and, if that's the goal, this team needs to enter training camp focused with Kyrie in the fold. Just get it done now.

Yeah could you imagine the expressions on Pop's face on the sideline watching Brick do what Brick does?

    Marc Stein's latest...

    On Mitchell
Knicks and 6ers might get slaps on the wrist
And most importantly, Stein says not so fast with those Pat Bev to LA rumors

Brian Lewis, the one who first reported Kyrie wanted to remain with Nets.

    Stein on Spotify Live:

    - Brian Lewis (NY Post) thinks Kyrie's ultimate destination is LA. BUT wouldn't be shocked if he was with the Nets in training camp, either. Thinks his fate is in KD's hands.
-Stein: Whispers in Vegas that KD is serious about his request and didn't take that decision lightly.
(Another 10 minutes of nothing really new or groundbreaking on the situation)

-Lewis: Nets like Harris a lot and Marks is aware of his value. Marks would run things by the big 3 and Harris, that's how highly he thinks of him. They want to keep him, don't see him as a salary dump, but if the do a trade and have to get salaries to match that's different.

the harris stuff is smoke; trying to change his perceived value, imo.

it would be different if had didn't have major injury issues of late, obviously. they can totally keep him, too! no problem.

    Stein on our plan Bs:

    - based on all info he's heard, Hield AND Turner was never an option. We don't have enough assets. We are still looking into addressing the needs for a shooter. Mentioned Rob's relationship with Gordon and Hield. Thinks we'll exhaust the Kyrie option as long as we can first.

Stein on SA as a 3rd team:

    - hasn't heard there's anything close involving SA but clearly if there is going to be a 3rd team, cap wise it has to be SA or Indy. Marks has a good relationship with SA and whereas we haven't historically.
