Lakers getting the Spurs or Pistons
That is a good thing, hopefully everyone will be on the same page now:

    1) Get Irving for Westbrook- even if it means involving a 3rd team
    2) Try and pry a shooter away from them as well (Harris or Curry)- if not, you must KEEP NUNN
    3) Trade Horton-Tucker (and Nunn) to get a good wing
    4) Try and find 1-2 more sleeper (preferably wings) before season starts
    5) Try and do all this by trading only 1 first round pick (2027 or 2029 and not both) and up to (2) 2nd round picks

Those are the only 5 goals...

    Ayton for Turner?

Then Turner, Bridges and a bunch of picks for KD?

    Then Russ for Kyrie?

It looks like Phoenix is getting the ball rolling. Some guy posted that this will all be done by July 17th. If he ends up being right, he's about to blow up on the NBA insider circuit. We shall see soon.

Definitely an interesting turn of events. Hopefully a signal that some of these trades are finally about to happen.

If Nunn is being sent out as part of a Kyrie trade and/or still unhealthy, Schröder for the minimum would be a great pick up.

While Lebron and Kyrie are both so good with the ball in their hands, I still think we need a true back-up PG on the roster for depth. And there aren’t really too many options available on the market. I take 28 year old Schröder over players like Eric Bledsoe or DJ Augustin in their 30’s.

Y’all are acting like he’s Smush Parker. He was good for us in his year with us. Yes he was a bit obnoxious, didn’t live up to the money we thought he would be worth, and was terrible in the playoff matchup against Phoenix (although he was coming off a bout of Covid, and the whole team was a let down in that round, even our beloved Caruso). But still a good player.

Part of his problem that year was that he didn’t provide the spacing we needed from a PG playing alongside Lebron. But with Kyrie, that wouldn’t be a problem. He’d just need to come off the bench to provide a change of pace, focus on being a defensive disruptor.

FYI about Ayton and the Pacers

So maybe Brogdon’s physical is the first domino

Although I was under the impression that the Brogdon trade was already officially finalized since the C Bags account had posted this:

    No.

The Lakers need SHOOTERS, not another non-shooting, lacking defense guard......period.

If Nunn is part of the package, we need to be getting a shooter back...if not, we need to hang on to him because of his shooting.

NONE of the FA adds we have brought on are volume or good shooters, even if a few have the potential to be. Schroder has never really been a good shooter (career 33.8%)

    Move on from Schroder already...

My ideal scenario is that Nunn is healthy, we keep him in the trade, and also get back either Curry or Harris from the Nets. So I think we’re in agreement there.

But my point on Schröder is operating under the assumption that we have traded Nunn (or we can not rely on him to play due to injury), but have still at least gotten back Curry or Harris in the trade.

In that scenario, we would need a back-up PG and shooting would not be as big of a concern. Like if the objective is to get PG depth and you choose Augustin over Schröder solely on the basis of their three point shooting, that would be a mistake IMO. Schröder’s defense would be a bigger factor for me in the roster construction of this scenario.

    Kyrie / Schröder
    Curry / Walker / Reaves
Lebron / Brown Jr / JTA
    AD / Stanley / Gabriel
    Bryant / Jones

If you only have the veteran’s minimum to sign one player to slot into that bolded position, who on the FA market is better than Schröder?

So the suns gave up on KD, maybe the trades are set with the nets, just waiting for the right time

Schroder was one of the top defensive point guards in the League when he was here. That wasn't his problem. Kyrie and Curry or Harris are 3 of the best shooters in the NBA. We will be getting Curry or Harris. Possibly both.

Shroder is Westbrook with a couple points better from 3 (but still bad) and less boards. Of course, Westbrook as a backup wouldn't be that horrible either. For the minimum, he might be all there is but if we keep Nunn we have one of the better PG tandems. Nunn is damn near 40/50/90 (was only 1.9% off from 3 from being 40/50/90, .583/.381/.933) no reason to expect he hasn't fully recovered, we will not do better at backup than Nunn, we were ready to slot him in as a starter. Dramatic upgrade in shooting.

Also, we have Nunn's Early Bird Exception after this season and can resign him for 9.2 million. So, maybe we could keep him and Kyrie. I really can't think of a better PG duo. 2 guys basically 40/50/90

I'd trade Nunn to Charlotte for PJ Washington straight up. That being said, I wouldn't complain about keeping him either. I expected him to play well here.

Well right now that person would be THT (who is not even on your roster above), but assuming we trade him for a wing (which we should) then it would be Nunn.

If we get Curry back he is more than capable of bringing the ball up the floor when LBJ or Irving isn't on the floor as is Lonnie Walker. It just isn't a top priority as you think it is and any one we do bring in does in fact need to be someone who can shoot....

Ideally we get Curry back in the deal and trade THT/Nunn for a bigger wing. I want the Irving trade to go ahead and be over with and offer up THT for Washington in Charlotte, who looks to be the odd man out there.

I would also jump all in with Patrick Beverly when he is bought out, bust should he go elsewhere then yes either D.J. Augustin or a return of Avery Bradley would be the better add should we need another....

Schroeder, much like Westbrook simply don't fit this offense....period...

This should be (without a doubt) the page THAT ALL OF US ARE ON:

    PF Anthony Davis
    SF LeBron James
    C Thomas Bryant
SG Joe Harris or Seth Curry
    PG Kyrie Irving

    PF Stanley Johnson
    SF WING IN HORTON-TUCKER TRADE
    C Damian Jones
    SG Austin Reeves
PG Kendrick Nunn or D.J. Augustin/Avery Bradley or Patrick Beverly

    G/F Juan Toscano-Anderson
    G Lonnie Walker V

Those are the 12 with Max Christie, Cole Swider, Troy Brown Jr, Weymen Gabriel, etc battling it out for the remaining spots with the hope we can find one more sleeper on the buyout market..........

    No Dennis Schroder, please...

I think Juan Toscano-Anderson will slot and play higher that that.

I like the THT for Washington idea, but Talen makes twice his salary at 10 million. I wish we could lift him for Gabriel and use our trade exception to absorb the rest of the 5 million owed to PJ. I don't think we are far away from a pretty strong and versatile roster at all. I'd be happy with Kyrie and Seth, flip a minor trade for Washington, and keep Nunn. I don't know what we'd do with Talen, but he’s a nice asset to keep, in case we chose to flip one of these FA signings at the trade deadline. He's still only 21 years old.

Brown is a good prospect, he's 6'6 and has the ability to defend the small guards. That's a valuable commodity.

Plus, we have Pippen Jr as a fail safe for backup PG. We need SHOOTING and WINGS.
