great leverage pull by Bob Pelinka, Turner and Hield deal is enticing, might give them a take it or leave deal to the Nets.

I prefer Kyrie over Hield and Turner.

Kyrie is the perfect complimentary PG to Lebron. The Indiana trade would leave us with Nunn as the only real “PG” on the roster.

Sure Lebron can be the de-facto PG and guys like Reaves and Walker might have some limited ability to be a primary ball handler, but it’s not sufficient and I don’t want to keep such a large playmaking load on Lebron’s shoulders.

Deep in the playoffs, games get decided by who has the stars that can get you a bucket when the game is on the line. I trust Kyrie in that moment more than Hield or Turner.

And then if you get Curry or a healthy Harris in addition to Kyrie, that’s a significantly better deal. In a vacuum, I like Seth over Buddy.

With that said, a few weeks ago I think we all would have considered a Westbrook for Hield and Turner deal as a pipe dream that we’d pull the trigger on in a second.

So if that deal is legitimately on the table (I’m still a little skeptical and wonder if it’s an empty threat for leverage on our part), and there is any risk of some other team taking Indiana’s package then just get it done. Maybe give Sean Marks a quick deadline to let him know we’re serious, but if he’s still trying to play games then go with the Indiana package.

We can NOT risk going into training camp with Russ on the roster. The dream was always to convert him into 2-3 serviceable rotation/starter level players.

I don’t know how many roster spots we’ll have, but if some are freed up he could be the new vet locker room guy, I wouldn’t mind.

Wasn't sure how to take this. $60 M for two years or was part of it added to his current salary? That is a ton of money for 2 years.

If he's going to suffer with that team he should be well compensated for his loyalty.

    Here are the annual figures

Agreed. I've in general supported the 3rd star approach over the role players approach even after winning it all in 2020 because LeBron clearly wants the third star. I know he's always wanted his teams to acquire top talent, but I think its an acknowledgment that he doesn't know if he can shoulder all the creation responsibility for a whole season/playoffs anymore.

Good lord are the player salaries ever insane…. And I say that as a compliment towards the NBA.

Just 10 years ago Kobe Bryant was the highest paid player in the league making $27 million/season.

It speaks to the incredible growth (revenue) of the league
