Woj is great at reporting news, he made a name for himself a few years back for being the first to report something big. Its when he puts his opinion/analysis on things that show his bias. And because his reporting has always been correct, people treat his analysis as gospel when they shouldn’t

he's also famously not connected to certain guys/teams.

it's a symbiotic relationship between the shamses and wojs and the agents and managers, for sure. for the consumer, it becomes a game of trying to divine the origin and parse the diction.

the lakers are making FA moves as if russ will be here, too.

but we're in disarray, and they're calmly in control, right?

Sounds like a lot of media posturing from both sides to squeeze what the Nets and Lakers want out of each other. Info is going to be different depending on which team’s “leaks” it’s sourced from.

The only thing I’d bet on is everything you’re hearing from Woj is exclusively Nets propaganda since the Lakers FO want nothing to do with him and he’s been salty about that for quite a while.

It would not surprise me at all if the next big headline we see is:

Durant Rescinds Trade Request; Gets Irving Commitment

So far the Nets have done the following:

    • brought back Mills for 2 years, $14.5 million
    • brought back Claxton for 2 years, $20 million
    • signed TJ Warren on a 1 year deal
    • Signed Edmond Sumner
Those are all signings you would make whether or not KD/Kyrie are back, they don't have their own pick so they've got no reason to just tank.

I mean I have read numerous ENDLESS articles, reports, etc on this situation and this is what I think truly is what happened (from each side)

Nets: Buddies Irving and KD wanted the extension for Irving and based on his antics (arguably rightfully so) the Nets refused to give it to him- it was then "rumored" he would leave for LA next season (and even the outlandish MLE possibility for this season) and then Irving picked up his 36.9 option....and then BINGO

Spin all you want (they have gone as far as to say it was because he was giving it his all and other weren't, hiring of Nash, etc) but in a matter of hours later Durant wanted out. Why? Because the NETS didn't give Kyrie his money.....PERIOD. No, it isn't because of Irving's antics Kevin wants out, it is because he just signed a 4-year deal and they (Nets) won't commit to Irving.....and NO ONE feels overly giddy about Ben Simmons....

In retrospect (even though you hardly hear it in the media to give KD a more positive spin) he wants out because his buddy didn't get paid....period. Durant wants no part of a 4-year reign without him on board....

Lakers: LA knew trading Westbrook would mean surrendering more capital after just surrendering capital to get him in the first place.

It was not a "ploy" that many of us thought with the immediate hiring of Ham and his embracing of RW- but rather a strong POV from the powers to be that they (LBJ/AD) asked for RW, so they need to make it work. Enter no-nonsense Ham saying everything correctly and RW being one of the few to show up at his hiring announcement and let's get on board with this!

Deep down, EVERYONE knows you can't put a square peg in a round hole (somehow making RW a decent defensive player and/or finding a jump shot at 33 years of age) but this is where we are headed, but we will see what year 2 brings since the three hardly played together....

In other words, a load of BS.

Who knows how this gets unraveled when it is all said and done, but if Lakers don't jump now it would not surprise me at all that the above headline happens because you simply arent likely getting a comparable return for LD (especially compared to what the Gobert trade netted the Jazz)

Haha, the team who had the lower waiver claim by a single win.

    Of course

When I see us miss players like this I'm just thinking are we just stupid? Asleep at the wheel? Alternate plan for which no one has any idea?

I’m hoping for Thomas Bryant, or just any bigs. We have 2 bigs right now, AD and Jones. Our lack of size KILLED us last season, we constantly got out-rebounded, we can’t do this again. Need another big, preferably a stretch 5, and if AD doesn’t plan to start at the 5 then we ALSO need a backup PF, 6-9-6-10 guy. Current roster unless I’m forgetting anyone

    Russ/THT
    Walker/Nunn/Reaves
    LeBron/JTA/Brown/Christie/Gabriel/Stan
    AD
    Jones

LeBron will play some 4, I’m sure he’ll slide there when AD sits, but he’s 38, he’s not a legit full time backup PF, need to get someone else.

So far that looks like a poor off season. And it looks like TJ Warren signed for something between the minimum and the mMLE. I’m disappointed we didn’t even try to get him.
