    If I'm the Nets, Ayton on a max is not the one young player I want to get back now as I move into a near-full rebuild. Mayne the Nets have called on the better young players (Zion, Scottie Barnes, etc.) and been told they're off the table.

    i'd have preferred him, but he has lower upside and is also not the big wing defender everyone wanted. also, not klutch and i think the lakers are being careful with the cap space for...reasons.

    me neither, but i'm guessing he doesn't get the full max?

    ayton/bridges/johnson/picks helps bkn not completely bottom out in the short-term, which is best because they don't have their own picks in the near future.

    and nobody's giving up the blue chip young guys for 34-year old durant, imo. teams generally hold their top young player (if they have one) out of talks, like phx is with booker here.

    If the Nets trade Durant for picks without Booker to the Suns, you essentially pencil them in winning it all, barring end of the season injury. The other issue with Durant, is he would not shed his not joining a ready made title contender to get his rings. He would be better off going to Miami.

    between durant and paul, you're tempting injury fate PRETTY HARD. people act like it's a virtual certainty lebron and AD get hurt (maybe it is), but those two are not iron men, nor are they spring chickens.
