We average about 9 years between championship runs. If the bubble was it for us then 2029 would mark 9 years for us and that 1rst round pick would probably be a high one and valuable.

End and start of championship runs:
    '72-'80 8 years
    '88-'00 12 years
    '02-'09 7 years
    '10-'20 10 years

Our valuation of these picks feels a little high to me.

Wondering what the Nets are offering. Feel like if we can get Seth and a young prospect we should pull the trigger at this point with the picks given the other moves we made.

to me, it's all about the protections on the picks, not the nominal inclusion thereof. lotto-protected that turn into 2nds the following year. it would be awkward in negotiations but the truth is: we don't want to be you in the future.

losing late 1sts never bothers me. they're such a crapshoot they're almost worthless. just makes you feel like you have something (see the knicks' 3 1sts from last week). when you start losing lotto picks, it begins to sting, as those have a better shot of turning into useful players.

It certainly the preferred outcome and way to negotiate. But everyone realises highly protected picks aren’t valuable so in certain cases where the return is worthwhile, you have to send them off unprotected.

I think in this case I’d rather send an unprotected first out, if I get to keep the second pick. I’d package that for another player if possible.

That’s my thought as well. Wondering out loud if the Nets are playing hard ball with the protections.

one unprotected pick may be a fair compromise. maybe with a protected swap on the other if they're being real bastards about it all.

You can't combine a trade X with players, can only be sent out by itself.

That's gonna be the highest $ per game played, no doubt.

Windy was on Get Up and hit on a few points:

    - as of midnight last night, looks like a 3rd team will have to get involved to help facilitate a KD deal.
    - doesn't think the Kyrie domino will fall until after the KD trade
    - thinks free agency might be on hold until it's resolved like when Kawhi took the NBA hostage before going to the Clipps

Sounds to me that the Lakers could be the third team involved in any KD deal, and we end up getting Kyrie.

This 3 team deal between LA/Nets/Suns works, picks will have to go to Brooklyn:

Brooklyn gets Westbrook, Miles Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and picks from both LA/Phoenix

LA gets Kyrie and Joe Harris

    Suns get Durant

There’s also rumours Chicago wants to make a bid for KD as well, and they have the more appealing package for Brooklyn (Brooklyn says they want multiple all stars):

Brooklyn gets Zach Lavine (all star, klutch client to help grease the S&T to pair him with Simmons), Pat Williams, Westbrook (former all star lol), picks from both teams

    LA gets Kyrie, Harris

    Chicago gets KD

In all trades, offloading Harris is a benefit to the Nets because they get rid of his contract while he’s also coming off a foot surgery.

surprised NO couldn't get him to agree to something more like embiid's first extension, given the circumstances.

yeah, the big money FAs and the very top of the exception pile probably want to see how things shake out. wonder if it would help to have kyrie and kd shipped out as part of the same mammoth multi-team trade?

still think if we'll eat harris, it helps bkn sort durant out. we can under the cba, but jeanie and company have to swallow the hit financially.

Let's just hope the Lakers don't throw it all up in this case.

If Harris is healthy he'd be a fantastic addition. We need that shooting in the worst way
