    gpII's not signing for the mini mle. gs has his early bird rights and i can't believe they wouldn't open with an offer of over the mini mle.

    @Wino C’mon now … we still have Rob’s plans A, B, C, D and E to roll through. Have a little faith.

    i was actually wondering whether we'd re-up gabriel. and we might still cut him. but he showed some flashes. he's kind of like mckinnie was for me last year--would like to keep him instead of sign an ancient guy to do the same thing.

    The entire NBA is upgrading with legit NBA talent through the draft and trades. Lakers are signing all the G League players every other team didn't want. This is suuuuuuuuper.

    OK so the FO and new coaching staff seem to see enough upside in Gabriel to hang onto him for now. Another good sized wing still in the fold along with Stan who we knew was staying.

    Head says Porter. Heart says Monk.

    the funny thing is that every season there's grade A level players saying in the media they'd be willing to come here and play for less money, and even so we managed to paint ourselves in such a corner with the Westbrook trade especially, that we can't even take advantage of that.

    As if we learned nothing from last season, scoring production is not a top priority. It is defense, defense and more defense. Being able to defend, which Monk struggles at and he is immensely undersized- and we already have two guys on the team that fit that mold with Nunn and THT....to say nothing about Westbrook.

    There will be some 3 and D projects available, and if not for the MLE then a spacing big has to be target #2, not Monk.

    We will get enough points with or without Monk, even if we bring back Melo and sign others for the league minimum. Scorers can be had for the minimum, defenders can't (see roster from last season)

    Someone is going to give Malik more (a team already built with good wings that can use his youth and shooting) than the MLE anyway...

    One thing on the Porter front worth noting is that we pursued him last summer as well. Aaron Larsuel (works for the team) was on one of the SS&R pods (The Hook?... Maybe) and reminded listeners that we were one of the finalists for him last summer. In the final 3 or so teams he was considering.

    I go Porter + House (then it can also be the Steak Summer) at the wing. Bring in Jevon Carter at the point and bring back fan favorite big JaVale McGee. It's not one guy as much a change in mindset and direction to address where we fell on our face.

    Porter/Stan/House/Swider is a fix at the most significant position as shown in the playoffs.
