He could be an asset in a nice trade in a year or so. Lol.

I actually don’t think THT should start. I’d rather he come off the bench so he has more chances to operate with the ball.

Because it is the correct thing to say and it possibly opens up that offer from LA. Yes, I think he might consider 6 million over a 1-year 10 million offer...but I said multi-year offer, and that isn't sacrificing 4 million but rather 24 million.

I give odds about 20% he comes back, and it is that low because Lakers probably would be better served using that MLE on some length, as much as we would miss his scoring...

What's worse? Another season of WB? Or having to deal with the same **** narratives from the two WB supporters.

It's okay because, "you won't break my soul, you won't break my soul, I'm telling all of Lakers Ball..."

what if it's 2 years, 14 million, PO on second year, which gains him early bird rights the following year. think he's taking 3/30 over that? i'm not sure, based on his own words.

sort of off topic, but based on the age and mileage on gs's stars, i don't expect them to repeat next year, which means the west is once again pretty wide open (nobody else looks that scary except the clippers, who have even less available stars than we do).

so yeah, we're crap and it doesn't look great, but i thought dallas would miss the playoffs last year and they were in the conference finals. boston made the finals after looking absolutely dead in the water as late as january.

    things can happen.

Well, I for one am assuming he leaves and I don't know that it isn't the best thing for both parties.

Unless the Lakers are able to move Nunn/THT- they don't need to be spending any of their cash on ANYONE under 6 ft 6. We need wings in the absolute worse way.

Good 3-and-D wings simply don't sign for the minimum, and I doubt we are able to move RW to net one; rather it will be (if at all) players who are simply better than stomaching him.

So that ONLY leaves trading Nunn/THT and our MLE to get a couple of them, to say nothing about a stretch big hopefully.

Not sure using one of those assets (the easiest one) to re-sign a 6'3 guard is the best way to go anyway....

And I say that really wanting him back...

@Johgnyb77 …. why do you persist in projecting your thoughts and opinions onto people on this site that you don’t really know? Other than what they actually say and typically say carefully about how they feel about things in general conversation.

If the choice could be made between Brick and Irving, somehow, most would choose Irving. For the one year specifically, and then see what is happening going forward. Talent and fit wise it’s a no brainer. So it gets “discussed”. Not that we ignore all of Irving’s baggage.

“Westbrook has won a single playoff series in five appearances since his partnership with Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City came to an end in 2016. Westbrook's high-usage, low-efficiency brand of basketball has yielded little more than a middling record alongside James Harden, Bradley Beal and LeBron James over the past three seasons, leading to questions about where he might find success as he enters his mid-30s.”

    Ouch

they also don't sign for the mini MLE, or even the full MLE, tbh. why not just get the bpa?

if this mythical two-way, 6-8 forward shows up for the mini mle, i'm thrilled! let's do it!

weird that your list was a bunch of negatives that will most certainly occur, but you seem to think this (signing a two-way big forward) is the positive thing that's going to happen.

hell, there aren't even that many good forwards on the market, period. the route to those is via trade. if you want to advocate using the mini mle on say, hartenstein over monk, i'm listening and think it's a debate. but not on a recovering joe ingles or something.

we're much more likely to nab a wing via trade, imo. and even then, it won't be of the quality people seem to be hoping for.

This should be the team motto this year. When we run it back with Westbrook and minimum signings, Pelinka can have a press conference explaining “Eh, things can happen”

It’s really the only honest way you can try to spin any positivity from such a roster.

Never did I imply it was for sure going to happen, but it is one of the only few options we have in getting one...

But yes, our MLE would be better served being used for size on the perimeter/wing.

Doesn't have to be a 2-way (good shooter/great defender) but it does need to be someone who can defend on the wing and be taller than 6ft 3.

I want Monk back, but we simply can't afford him (unless he takes the minimum raise) UNLESS we are able to get wings using RW (unlikely) and trading THT/Nunn- the later of which you would prefer not to trade if you move RW

So no, I dont think, as of right now; it is in the best interest to use our MLE on Malik Monk.....which I doubt he takes anyway (likely getting better deal elsewhere)
