Cool, then in theory we could have an off ball three point shooting PG next to LeBron in the starting line up and an off ball three point shooting PG next to Reeves in the second unit.

I'm good with Hartenstein, Jones and Warren at this point. I look at a healthy Nunn like a FA signing now. Convince Malik to take a leap of faith type of deal and let's roll. Hartenstein has some possibilities

Well Shams tweet seems to have been directly sourced from Kyrie, and was worded to specifically indicate Kyrie was opting in to stay with KD in Brooklyn.

Might be Woj trying to keep the door open just so ESPN talking heads have something to talk about the next few days.

Irving is in the same position as Westbrook. You have to opt in first in order to be traded. We did that with Trez, I doubt he and Brooklyn rediscovered their love for each other that quickly.

Warren is a sleeper hit. If he is healthy he can perform like Top Gun Maverick at the box office. If we could nab him for the MLE that would be a super useful player. We’d need to combine THT and Gabriel for something else.

    Lebron
    AD
    Russ
    Warren
    Nunn
    THT trade

That’s 6 players earning above the minimum and producing above it too. Reaves will produce above it and we’d need one or two more minimum signings that can produce above it to role, preferably someone like Otto Porter Jr or Ingles.

Then you fill the rest out with Melo, Howard, Stan, Christie etc and you’ve got a competitive 14.

"Irving is bypassing on multiple opt-in and trade scenarios to fulfill his four-year commitment to the Nets and Kevin Durant."

That doesn't mean anything. He opted in to his last year of the contract he signed. He can be traded as soon as the ink dried, he no longer is in total control of the situation. Russ can be traded when he opts in too.

Find out what? If he’s here it’s because the only deals being offered the price was too high with first round pick or picks wanted or not liking specifics of players being offered in return. They and LeBron wanted him gone at the deadline last year and James got passive aggressive about it over the Houston wanting a pick attached for Wall with his Twitter crap about not caring about picks. Freaking John hadn’t played in a year or whatever Wall. You’re the only skeptic about that as well. No surprise.

Warren hasn't played since the bubble though. I'm actually banking on him taking a vet minimum like Monk did. Porter Jr would get the MLE offer over TJ most likely. I'd offer the MLE to Hartenstein too, or Bamba if he didn't get a tender.

Yeah Hartenstein would be nice. How do we pull that off if Malik takes the TPMLE? Clips would keep him at minimum plus raise allowed if they could.

i'd offer the mini mle to hartenstein, too. fills a need with a young player who's still hungry.

i don't think we'll get the wing everyone wants via FA.

Shams broke the news and likely got the scoop straight from Kyrie, so the question is does Kyrie stand to gain anything from signaling that he'll opt in two days before the deadline and then going back on that tomorrow. Maybe he threatens to not file the paperwork at the last minute to force the Nets to accept a three-team trade to where he wants to go? MAYBE but that seems overwhelmingly unlikely and is a level of douchebagery that seems like a lot even for Kyrie. The Nets probably just called his bluff, said they're not taking some package out there for Russ and told him to go ahead and sign the taxpayer MLE.

can't do both. because, again, we just killed ourselves by trading for russ and letting caruso walk.

is it a bluff if kyrie opts for random arthroscopic knee surgery in december? folks are rejoicing about him opting in, but it actually makes their situation worse, imo.

now you've got a loose cannon on a one-year deal who's unrestricted after that. similar to our russ situation--you're gambling on things that went horribly to go better...cuz...optimism? alright...

I like Damian Jones for the min.

Wings? We'll find one. Or a couple.

I wonder if we split the TPMLE between two players. It's not much but its a bit more than the vet min...

dieng, dedmon, jones all should be available for the min, imo. let's get two of them on day one.

i'd look at warren and prince for the mini mle, but i could easily be talked into monk there for reasons stated in the other thread.

That's going to be dicey since Malik is now making noise like the money, isn't going to be the biggest factor in his decision. My idea is to pitch Isaiah and TJ Warren on a sign a vet minimum for now deal, and we will take care of you next summer when we have a lot of cap space. I have to believe that Malik is at least looking for that 6 million. Bringing back Malik, adding Hartenstein, Warren and getting Nunn at 100 percent is a pretty good outcome for me. We still have Talen as bait for another move.
