I see I wasn't the only one thinking about OKC's cap space.

Whew..if Lebron delivered AD and Kyrie and we get a chip. That man gets a lifetime Lakers pass doesn't he?

Lebron already has a pass. He won a title. If he wins two, he becomes top 5 Laker.

I don’t think OKC wants Russ. They’re trying to bottom out and develop their young players. Having Russ on the team would make them too competitive for their goals.

I also don’t understand the people who want Kyrie and then want to get rid of Russ. Kyrie is at an impasse with the Nets because he can’t get the full 4 year max. You think he is going to come here for the MLE without a potential way to get the full max the following year? The only real feasible way to do that is for Russ (or equivalent expiring salary) to stay on the roster this season and expire. Then Lebron has to take less than what he can to get Kyrie his max.

This is all very risky, what if this all blows up next season? Kyrie gets injured or refuses to play because of his ancestors? What if Lebron doesn’t want to give up salary? What if AD isn’t healthy and we make the play in again?

Either way, you need Westbrook’s salary to resign Kyrie. Then people wanting to trade Westbrook for Wall still? Why give up picks? And why trade for a guy who hasn’t played in 2 years and is constantly injured? This obsession to get rid of Westbrook at any cost is why you wouldn’t make good front office staff. You gotta make deals that are in your favour always over a long period of time to get a competitive advantage.

Whomever gets russ will likely buy him out. Russ will have an interesting market after that.

From the on court standpoint, probably West.

Top 5? Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Lebron, Shaq maybe? I think my man Rock and some others disagrees with the 1st part though.

Russ isn’t making OKC competitive, it would be a train wreck. Also, the players listed above (Muscala, Green, and Favors) are all expiring contracts, so you make that trade you can re-sign Kyrie. I don’t personally want Kyrie, but I’d do it if he took the TPMLE and we could break Russ’ deal into smaller expirings that are also useful players like that trade idea. Worst case scenario we suck again and Kyrie walks, and we’ve given up no assets and still have our cap space plan. But yeah Russ sucks so much, need him gone above all else or we will not compete.

I keep beating this same drum, that keeping Russ is the only way to keep Kyrie. The numbers don't work otherwise, with the exception of a straight up Wall swap. Why do that? or the nearly impossible task of finding enough expiring contracts to match 47 million. I don't think Lebron has to give up any money if Russ's contract is off the books. Once Irving signed, Lebron could still get his max because we have his Bird rights, we'd be in Golden State's company with the payroll though.

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is opting into his $37 million player option for the 2022-23 season, @TheAthletic @Stadium has learned. Irving is bypassing on multiple opt-in and trade scenarios to fulfill his four-year commitment to the Nets and Kevin Durant.

    We can now move on...

I get it, you don’t like Westbrook. But he made Washington competitive and they made the playoffs with him, even with Beal missing an extended amount of time. He made OKC competitive post Durant too.

At the end of the day, him running the show is one of the biggest floor raisers in the NBA whether you like it or not. At this stage of his career it seems it’s also a ceiling to any real success too. But a team like OKC definitely shouldn’t trade for him and there is a reason they have no interest, he’ll put them into the play in and lose valuable draft spots.

He’s not that Westbrook anymore, his athleticism crashed to earth and absolutely destroyed his game because he can’t shoot. If you can’t make a layup anymore AND you can’t shoot, you’re pretty much done. Sad, but it’s true, many knew this day would come for him, just maybe not so soon. Earlier in his career many thought it would happen to LeBron too, but then he added a three point shot and a crazy good fadeaway.

Lol..Westbrook will never be forgiven for "forcing " us to let Caruso walk. Unless we win a chip with him.
