He could serve the Ellington role (never played)...

Just an end of the bench role.

    We shall see.

If most of the fans in LA start in on giving AD grief, kiss him goodbye. When Klay got injured for two years there was a lot of speculation that his career could be through. I rarely heard a peep for GS fans about dumping him and giving him grief for being made of glass. Lakers fans are becoming like UCLA Bruins fans who think that because Wooden won a bunch of rings that they are owed something from everyone else. They are pathetic. I hope we don't become pathetic too. Winning is hard folks, nothing is owed us. When you have a great player, you have to support that player. When you don't, the next guy is going to think twice about coming here. Once you go for a player, you go all in. Some guys don't make it happen, heck AD already beat Baylor with his rings with the Lakers.

i'm told it's because the warriors drafted thompson (who, btw, actually IS done being a top-tier nba player, to boot). but i agree, the level of AD grief from this fanbase is super weird. but i guess everyone gave pau crap until he left for nothing and we didn't find a player as good as him for a full decade.

Beautifully said. I actually find lakers fan entitlement quite annoying. Our last 12 titles were won through hard work and determination. Nothing was given.

Klay got hurt playing. He has never been known to be soft and you never saw Klay giggling like a little girl during games his team was getting blown out.

AD has bad optics. Like he did in New Orleans. He was known for being a little soft way before he came to LA.

Lakers entitlement is a thing. But usually the irritation of a players execution is warranted.

If you can somehow send out just Russ in a multi-team trade that brings us Kyrie, absolutely worth the gamble.

Giving up picks for Kyrie though, way too risky given his injury history, contract status, and the rest of the circus that comes with him.

Seems an obvious case of “let’s manufacture a Lakers rumor so we can mention them in our headline and get some more subscribers to The Athletic”.

Seems like it'd have to be a manage a toir at the very least. Brooklyn, Houston/Pacers, LA type of thing. LA sweetens the pot with THT and any picks they can on their end.

Considering the impending possibility of LBJ leaving, I can see management going for it. Team structure wise Kyrie instead of Russ is so nice. He's exactly what we need on the court.

At least he can shoot a basketball. We already have the GOAT narcissist, might as well add to the party at this point.

I cannot stand Kyrie the person. He's unreliable, he doesn't care about anyone but himself, he has some outlandish beliefs, and I know he does not love basketball. That's scary. I typically don't want a player who in the prime are in the prime of their career, yet it wouldn't at all surprise me to see a ESPN alert tomorrow that he decided to retire on a whim.

Kyrie the player is a great fit and one of the best ball handlers this league has ever seen. Tough to separate the two though when evaluating the player.

I would prefer to get depth for Russ. A 1-1 isn't a great option for us. I don't think Kyrie is worth getting hard capped for either. IF we were to trade for him, there is no way I would be willing to give up any additional compensation. Too volatile of a player. Also, in his S&T I would only guarantee him 1 year anything after that has to be a team option. Have to protect ourselves some in this fiasco.

All I know is, I'd rather take the chance on him than to try again with Westbrook. If we can somehow land Kyrie that's a blessing regardless of his mental state. What else are we going to do, get John Wall?
