I agree. We can, and last year we did. But it will take good health for both LeBron and AD. We would have been champions again this year if they weren't injured.

But, if the FO decides they want to get a third star, the only way we can possibly get one is to package the good, not great players we have and all the rest of our draft capital. It's extremely unlikely, but let's say we can acquire Dame if we offer Kuz + KCP + THT + all our draft picks for the next few years. Would you pull the trigger? I would without hesitation. That's at least one ring, and maybe three.

We traded years of draft development for AD and it was worth it. It was a gamble but a great one. There is no guarantee that any of the picks we are holding will ever play up to the level of a Dame. It's almost certain they won't. For me, it's an easy decision.

It's an assistant coach. Assistant coaches are as important to winning in the NBA as a PA announcer.

Unless of injuries at key times take us back to 2, or maybe one superstar. :speechless:

Disagree. Just a recent example I mentioned in another thread... Thibs turned Boston into an elite defensive team as an assistant for Doc's team the year they won. They went to 15th or 16th to a top defensive team.

While I agree with OX in most situations, there are times when an assistant coach can make a massive difference. Like if your head coach's face is really, really shiny, a good defensive mind can make help a great deal.

Assistants are lackeys. That's it. In basketball, there are only 3 or 4 head coaches today's players would fear. That's it. An assistant coach, well, ya, you know where that is.

Thanks LT. I don't know why, when you compliment my posts and agree with them, it really means a lot.

yeah, still probably doomed their title hopes, which smarts quite a bit, but not as much as losing the franchise player for a year or more.

Wow. I am shocked nothing tore. It bent the wrong way...really far. Still is likely out for at least a couple weeks though.

I think it boils down to the fact that I think we win it all next year anyway if both LeBron and AD are healthy.

I’d rather risk that than increase our chances at another chip marginally (yes marginally because I think we’re already 80% if healthy) but ensure we have a decade of struggling if it all doesn’t go right.

Drafting well gives teams the capitol to trade for stars. If we have nothing to trade for a decade it’s a gamble I wouldn’t take.

Difference makers in the draft come in the top 5. Draft picks mean nothing but fillers outside that.

Yes, but that was because of two former #2s, and 4th overall pick being the main pieces.
