not saying it wouldn't help but grant is having a poor shooting season and is currently hurt, so guess he'll fit in

Sad thing is, with DJ unplayable, we only have two true bigs now in D12 and Johnson.

They won’t. I bet this is the team the entire season.

zero chance. they won't trade any of the big three, but i expect 3-4 guys to be moving, minimum.

so, i guess it won't be a blowup, but they clearly felt like anyone not in the big three was expendable in the summer, so i don't see why they would change their minds now.

That’s fine- shuffle the chairs on the Titanic and give away more pics.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but what was the last mid season trade the Lakers pulled of that significantly improved the team? I’m going all the way back to Pau.

feel like mitch made a few. the ariza move predated pau, right?

anyway, our best trade asset is in the worst stretch of his career, so i wouldn't hold my breath on dramatic upgrades.

    won't happen this season

bron needs to fake another injury and just sit out the rest of the season so they can tank

What’s the point of tanking when you don’t have any picks? Plus, I’m sure LeBron wants that all time scoring title.

Don’t want to be pedantic, but those trades were actually the same 2007-2008 season. Ariza trade was early in the season (so last few months of 2007). Pretty sure his agent broke the news on CL to us. Gumby or something like that.

Pau trade a few weeks before the deadline. February 1st, 2008.

Man, that January - March 2008 stretch was special. We went into 2008 surprisingly contending for the top of the west even though we hadn’t really made any drastic changes. Fish was a huge help, and Bynum took a massive leap in his development. Suddenly Bynum gets hurt and it feels like that flash in the pan is dead and we’re back to normalcy. A few weeks later, we’re forced to rely on Kwame again and he has an absolutely embarrassing performance against our rival Suns.

Then out of nowhere we land Pau. I get the call from my uncle on a Friday evening after school that he heard on the radio we got Pau. I’m on the bus home excited, but preparing for the inevitability that we lost Bynum and/or LO. Get home and turn on SportsCenter to learn that we kept both of em, only lost Kwame and Crit.

I was going crazy celebrating the acquisition on CL, fiending for any news about Pau. Remember getting excited when his first interview dropped on KCAL9. Then he joins us on his first game at New Jersey. Kobe didn’t play particularly well, but Pau was an instant fit (yeah, his first bucket was probably a travel). We got the W, Kobe was so thankful in his post game interview that he finally had real help.

We end up going on a massive tear through the rest of the season, and if it weren’t for Bynum and Ariza’s injuries that would’ve been the start of a 3-peat.

Sorry … I’m drunk and the misery of this Lakers season got me reminiscing :D:cry:

it's the anti-ariza trade. i think what hurt the most was how immediately stupid it was. it's rare that everyone is unified in the stupidity of a deal for one team, and then it holds up as just that stupid over time. there's a lot of times where everyone thinks a gm got rooked, but that guy knew something we didn't (and honestly, so did the trade partner). but in this case, it was just our FO being incredibly, painfully stupid.

The reason for this is no one is taking what's left of Westbrook's contact. Lakers are stuck. We were all wrong, now we all have to sit in it for 18 more months.
