Can't believe I am saying this but if John Wall gets bought out, is it worth it?

I'd you trade Westbrook for a needed wing player, yes.

It is really sad and disgusting to watch this version of the Lakers. I am in favor of blowing up the team, but they may still look to trade for players to surround Lebron and Davis with. One interesting name to watch is Zach LaVine. His contract is expiring, and his contract is low enough to obtain for THT, Nunn

One name I would keep an eye on is Zach LaVine. Attainable contract (19.5 million expiring), Clutch client, loves Lebron, L.A. ties, has some leverage with the aforementioned expiring deal. Lakers have three clutch clients who ironically happen to be Chicago natives (AD, THT, Nunn). AD unlikely traded though. But if Chicago gets a vibe that Zach could walk, THT, Nunn, Ellington, 2026 1st, and multiple 2nds for LaVine, Dossumu, and Thomas works mathematically. Unlikely though.

You’re not getting Zach from Chicago for less than AD

If we trade Westbrick for some short contracts, I’ll be happy.

I already mentioned highly unlikely. I would not close the door on it though. You never know what could transpire. Think about how stupid people felt when they said Divac for Kobe was a bad trade. That is just an extreme example, but folks have a similar tone in situations.

I don’t have any inside sources who know what any of the other GM’s are planning and which ones have already given up on the season. My guesses would be as good as yours, but I’ll take a look. Based on Russ’ contract, I’ve always said he most likely gets moved this summer after he opts into his last year on his current deal. Maybe we get lucky and he thinks he can get one last big multi year deal, but I’m bullish on this happening.

I honestly think there is a greater than 50% chance that Westbrook signs a 3-4 year 25-30m contract here.

The carnage that will follow in this place :D

I looked at the salaries around the league and it seems highly unlikely that Westbrook gets traded. I mean, we could try to trade him to Orlando for Fultz and Harris? It' ugly though.

you're not wrong in believing this, and we're not wrong for not liking it. look at how far westbrook's fallen--even his fans (me among them) have to admit it. imagine what a couple more years is going to do. fully unplayable at 25m per. i just hope we don't sell off any more picks if this is the route we choose.

    Someone already mentioned first one:
    1. Love(on books through next season) and Rubio(expiring deal) works since they combine for $39 million.
    2. Would have to happen in the summer because of Brogdon:
Turner(2 more), Brogdon(3 more) and J. Holliday (1 more) gets you to $46 mill
    3. I would not do this, but Rob might: Ben Simmons(3 more) and Curry(1 more) at $41 mill

Because of his difficult “fit” and massive salary, it’s going to be a monumental task. As we know, a lot will happen regarding player movement between now and the summer, but those three are the only likely I see as feasible with the current landscape.

Yeah, I looked at that option, but Fultz is a big gamble.

If we re-sign him, I honestly will be done watching until he’s gone.

I don't we could get that for Westbrook. Even though Love is a bad contract is his own right, he is having a solid year, and the Cavs are playing really well, so we would have to give them more incentive for taking Westbrook for Love and the expiring Rubio.

    example:

    Lakers get: Love and Rubio

Cavs get: Westbrook, Reeves, and two future 2nds?

I would rather endure another awful year with Russ then gift the Cavs AR-15.
