can't figure out what they're doing. honestly, lillard's offensive brilliance has bailed them out of many mistakes for a half decade now. tripling down on that AFTER he's warned you seems like a management death wish.

Still think it's a money and minutes game for him, despite mutual interest.

I think we should go ahead and fill the spot though. I don't see the point of leaving a spot open. Unless injuries kill us, the buyout market won't matter because there's not any available minutes for a late addition in Feb. I don't see what could potentially shake loose other than Love. If a guy gets hurt for a long stretch, cut him then... everyone is on one year min deals anyway. If this squad is relying on a Feb buyout addition then things went really sideways this season.

After his stint with us, he went to play in China. And then his mom died when he was out there. That was probably the lowest point of his life, as the two were extremely close. I think he posted some messages that had people worried he might do something to himself, but fortunately those suspicions didn’t play out.

But yeah, short story long, he’s been out of the NBA since he was with us.

Portland is pretty much helping Dame pack his bags at this point. It'll be interesting to watch the whole thing play out with how long Philly can hold out on trading Simmons waiting to see what Dame does. I know Dame and CJ is their main weapon but that experiment has ran its course I think. Should have tried to trade CJ for wing that would have helped them right now.

Leaving the Bulls for competition who have nothing to pay with but a vet min as Caruso used their Full MLE. They got DeMar DeRozan, Derrick Jones, Troy Brown @ the wing we have Trevor Ariza who's been more of a 4 lately and isn't gonna play a lot of minutes for us. The opportunity for play-time is much better here for Ennis. Los Angeles, championship, no brainer.

edit: apparently the Trailblazers too. They can pay MLE but are unlikely too as it will get hit with a repeater tax. So they are likely to offer vet min only and they have Powell and a few others that can put in minutes at the 3. They can use Ennis though but not as bad as us and they have even less to play for than Chicago as Portland won't be a huge factor, low playoff seed.

Saw Nick Wright (who is a donkey by the way) say that a great trade for the 76ers was with the Nets. Kyrie for Simmons. What’s everyone’s thoughts on that? Who wins? Is it a win win trade? Obviously it won’t happen.

It’s certainly intriguing. Kyrie and Harden seem a bit redundant together and Simmons gives them a great playmaker and defender that could really unleash harden, Durant and Harris. While Kyrie and Embiid would be a great duo.

I actually think Simmons for Harden makes more sense, the trade that should have happened from the getgo.

yeah, houston was dumb not to do that one, imo. think the owner was still mad at morey (who wouldn't be, tbh) and was probably (justifiably) worried about optics--giving harden to morey after the two of them just burned down your franchise. still, simmons alone is basically a better return than they got.

no way the nets do either of these trades now, though.

Yeah, but trading big names within your own division, between the two best teams in the division? I’m sure it’s happened, but man, I don’t see it.

I stand by that 25 years ago, he would have sniffed an all star spot. End of the bench because there were so many great bigs. Maybe even an injury replacement. But his game is for the wrong era.

he had a pretty good rookie season and then did nothing after that. did he have injury problems? or maybe opponents just figured his game out easily
