Can someone explain what a buyout means exactly? Did Memphis pay off his entire contract and say ‘later, Do,’ or do they agree on a lesser amount, and go their ways? And is he then off Memphis’s books completely, cap space and all?

Best 3rd string PG option. And soo f***ing glad it wasn't the other PG who was briefly a Grizz and is a Minnesotan... for now.

The writing’s been on the wall for a while now. I know it’s not official yet, but I’m on board with Rondo’s return.

It’s depth at the PG position that makes sense to have in emergency situations, he has chemistry with our core already, he’ll be a great locker room presence and almost another “assistant coach”, and there’s always a chance we can catch some “Playoff Rondo” lightning in a bottle.

The only concern is his role. He has to be behind Nunn in the depth chart, probably not even a regular part of the rotation. I have a feeling everyone will be on the same page about this. Rondo barely played for Atlanta and the Clippers anyways, and I didn’t hear him pout about it. Seemed like he understood when Lue benched him in the playoffs.

Would feel real good about getting Rondo back (along with Dwight who's already been signed). They should have given the 2020 team a chance to run it back.

    1) I don't think Rondo can be useful to us. He will do some good things but he will be a grand net negative.

    2) Even if he's helpful this is getting ridiculous, stacking the team with so many former all star players. I get that the Warriors and Nets started this trend and Lebron/Klutch/Lebron pleasing FO is now perfecting this. Its almost shameful to be honest.

    Yuck on wanting Rondo back

(PS I know I posted I'll take Love who is also an all star caliber player but that guy looks absolutely miserable especially in the mental health dept in CLE but Im a fan of Love and i think he can help us. He's lost his soul in CLE)

If point 1 is true, how is #2 relevant? If he’s a net negative, what does it matter if he’s a former all star? I don’t see any correlation to the Warriors or Nets. He was already with the franchise for 2 years and won a ring here.

Either way, he’d be the end of the bench as a player coach. Could be part of the reason they let Dudley go. Rondo’s value here is more from the bench and in practice.

Rondo is not going to contribute as a player. He's a 3rd/4th string PG and our new Dudley. But his experience is valuable, someone like him is good to have on the bench like this:

Yea good luck managing Rondo to sit around and watch his peers play. That will ruin the chemistry for sure. He's someone who wants to be in the trenches per se and be actively involved through his PT. No thanks keep him far away from the team.

Team needs to fully commit to Westbrook as the floor general and Nunn/THT as the learning proteges. Rondo does not belong here. No thanks. You want veteran leadership who can bring the team together go get Redick or Korver not Rondo

He didn't play much last year in weaker teams than ours. Why would it be different?
He knows Russ will be the main PG, so his role will always be diminished.
I think Nunn will be our strongest #2, so I see some space for him to play

You want a guy back who missed open shots non-stop while he was here? Why?

Would gladly welcome Rondo back. Good vet who’s basketball iq can only help. It’s also good depth to have in the event of injuries at the point guard position.

After Rondo I still think we need one last center for depth. I have low confidence the Dwight/Gasol center rotation stays healthy.

Lebron/Vogel leadership group couldn't even convince a newcomer PG Schroder to come off the bench, you're telling me they can manage having Rondo sit around as the 13th man?

I'll root for Rondo as I do for any Laker player who wears that uniform at the end of the day. As long as the team succeeds with the move I'm ok. But this move comes with a ton of doubts for me. 1) It does hinder our chances of a ring 2) It hinders the development of young guys (who give us a greater chance to wing a ring now and later)

Passive aggressive non confrontational leadership of Lebron + too many HOF pedegree players is combustible. No Jason Kidd or Dudley to help out.

The team needs a balance of alpha all stars, apt role players who know their rank on the team, young guys who bring energy, wiley vets who can mentor. Rondo completely disrupts that mix. Yuck is all I have to say.
