not sure where you're getting your stats, but:

    upload_2021-8-27_14-34-13.png

    also, drtg is better lower.

i'm hardly a stats-only guy, but there's just not a good, objective argument against gasol. "he's slow, guys attack the paint on us". ok, we're a great defense anyway. not sure why it matters how it looks.

and poopooing positional defense is a strange thing from professed long-term basketball players. how many of the league's best defenders weren't/aren't the league's best athletes, and rather are just smart? being smart and large is helpful, as gasol's entire career can attest.

anyway, cookie's right, he's not a FA, despite people's hopes.

Not this Schlep .... I wanted Nance Jr. but he's going to Portland. Good for him.

shouldn't want or need Rondo with Nunn signing, it would/could be like Gasol/Drummond situation

    LOL sure bud

"poopooing" positional defense is easy to do when you can't move your feet quick enough to get into position. The guy can barely dunk the ball anymore lmao

    :LLLLLebronlaughing:

The ability to fairly debate this is lost with you because you always fall back to "stats". Well then, he averaged career lows last year in a lot of categories so argue that..and miss me with the minutes argument, not my fault he can't stay on the floor because he's old. Father time doesn't care about your "stats" but his body sure does and it's reflected in his "stats". Now he's gonna be another year older in an already declining career. Fact is the defense was good because of the players around him. You put him on another team that is poor defensively, he's not gonna be their savior.

There's way more to this game then the stats

weird that his numbers look good on all teams. must have had some incredible luck, for an entire career.

if only he could have dunked harder earlier...imagine the possibilities...

Come on now he couldn't defend on the perimeter but neither can Boogie, and Marc is a much smarter player than him. He did cut angles and has great hands to strip the ball. Not elite at rim protection now of course, but AD was there for that, and probably some funneling scheme from Vogel, except AD was never right from the get go. For my own opinion I like that, like Rondo was when he played with us, Marc helped set the offense and quarterback it for the minutes he was expected to play, and was/is probably still one of the 2 or 3 best big men in the game passing and hitting cutters, LeBron included on those receptions. It's also my opinion that being his age and the success out of the gate we had, he like LeBron knew and does, it was a long season and would gradually work into better and better conditioning to peak around the playoffs rather than burn out physically too soon. Of course nothing worked out as planned with the injuries, and Drummond being promised and inserted into the starting position wrecked any further improvement conditioning wise from Marc as the season went on. Just my thoughts and YMMV. But washed up, NO, not my eye test.

Dwight can't defend the perimeter either but he's way better at the rim and still athletic enough to contribute there. And again my argument stands, we weren't good defensively because of Gasol, we were good because of the players around/inspite of him. So you're telling me if he went to a poor defensive team he'd turn them around and they'd be even marginally good defensively?

No you are the one saying he's worthless on defense, basically. Literally?

IMO the perfect 5 rotation with what we could afford this year would be AD, of course, Marc, Dwight, Damian Jones. He was perfect and could have gotten stronger and better. Bad decision letting him go when so cheap.

Look at his stats for the 8 games at 14 minutes per. Loved what he brought. My eye test there too.

No I never went that far. I've said he washed and gassed but purely in jest and compared to what he once was. I definitely don't think he's a starter in this league

Kevin Love will be a Laker less than 24 hours after his buy-out. Bet.

Hard pass. Tolliver is like 35-36 years old. Would prefer some younger legs at wing.
