^So long ago... I'll never ever forget that one member that posted on CL wanting to organize a prayer group before Game 7(?) against the Suns. Then there's Rooscooter. Bless him wherever he is, whoever he is or whatever he's doing.

We could use one more athletic big man like a Damian Jones and one more perimeter wing who can guard the likes of Durant, Butler, George, Doncic, Giannis....perhaps Lebron can take up that challenge and fill that perimeter defender need?

It would be fun to land Hield still for Schroder although I’m not sure how?

Here's how I close out free agency if I'm Rob:

-Bring back Wes, we need the defense.
-Bring in Ed Davis. We need one more big body and he can play both spots. Fits well with the whole former Laker thing. And he's fine with DNPs.
    - Give last spot to Dudz. Buha with The Athletic said that's the plan IF we decide to go 15 deep. We won't have enough PT for the 15th guy anyway. Bron loves the guy. He's great for the locker room and was at the meeting with Russ.
    - Trade the German hedgehog for an early 2nd rounder or a couple late second rounders and we get a TPE. Could be useful at the deadline if a need arises. He and his agent clearly need the help. Rob would be doing them a favor in finding him a home.

no expectations, roster looking good already but if Rob pulls it off w/o losing tht, he'll have one of the best off season ever

We only have 1 roster spot left no?

I'm worried about our backup 4 being only Melo. I don't buy having LeBron and AD pairing in the frontcourt, getting beat in the post, screening, fighting for rebs...I think it can tire them.

At the end of games, with 2 shooters and Russ, of course! But during regular season and long stretches of games, I don't love it

Ramona definitely lead the “Rob doesn’t know the cap” mob. I honestly haven’t followed her much since then. Lost all credibility and clearly seemed to have an agenda.

i mean, we are. i know we're excited about our various vet mins--and they're good--but we let a very good role player walk for financial reasons. that's small market stuff, for sure. letting dennis walk or trading him for a TPE (which is becoming increasingly unlikely if not impossible because cap space dried out) is also squandering an asset (2 really-- that was our last 15 million in cap space for years + a 1st rounder that became air) in a small market fashion.

it can be both: we got good vet mins AND we cheaped out.

i'm worried that our only quality big player is AD. i was hoping for one more 4/5 type who could be counted on a bit more, but maybe the team is really committed to playing small a lot (with lebron at the 4 more), hence signing a million guards.

on the bright side, very few teams play bruising backup centers and forwards, so as long as we can start one of gasol and howard and get 20 minutes of center play from them per game, we probably don't have to worry too much about getting beat up.

Yes, there's not much teams playing big nowadays. But I think that's how you win. Our strength was having big scratches with AD at the 4 completely cooking the opposition. Miami in the finals only had Bam and the mismatch was always there. With Portland too. Up until this year we were beating teams through size.

This year we heavily invested in shooters. We do have a third star, and it's scary to imagine LeBron, AD and Westbrook in the floor with snipers around, how can you defend that? Hope it pays off.

There's still Mike Scott, Melli or Ilyasova, not sure if they are washed. Vanderbilt too. They are all meh, but could play a role.
Not sure if we are going to sign someone else until the ink dries on Caruso and Schroder, tho.

We have to think what happens if AD not playing. You would have 2 of Gasol, Howard or Melo playing around or +30min. That's a lot. We had Markieff, Kuz and Drummond before to cover that. I think it's a real issue

For Schroder we can push Dallas, but why would they want to give us assets? Powell or Kleber would be nice. It's the only team I could see valuing DS.

I think there’s really only 4 teams that need a starting caliber point guard (Dallas, New Orleans, New York, and Orlando).

Of the 4, I think NY is the only one with cap space and I can see them offering the same money they offered Kendrick Nunn to Schroder… which Schroder probably takes.

However if that doesn’t happen and Schroder ends up needing the Lakers to execute a sign and trade, I’d love any of these S&T options:

    - if New Orleans, josh hart accepts qualifying offer and gets traded back to Lakers
    - if Dallas, for Dwight Powell
    - if Orlando, for Terrance Ross (disclaimer, of all the teams listed I suspect Orlando to have the least interest because they are rebuilding and would rather give the playing time to Cole Anthony).

i will not give you a man.

and yes. they were already committed to nearly that salary amount when they traded for westbrook. the caruso move was clearly financial (and conveniently matched the rough difference in salary for that trade).

maybe it's fine and nunn or whomever will do exactly what caruso did and more. or maybe bringing in a bunch of mercenaries to duke it out with each other for minutes while auditioning for bigger deals elsewhere will be problematic.

feel like we set ourselves up for a short run with no continuity. and maybe that's the new nba. but historically, that hasn't been all that successful.
