The bottom line for Russ is that he plays too similar a game to Lebron. He cannot be Russ while playing with Lebron, unless Lebron takes a huge step back to allow it. On top of that his weaknesses were the exact opposite of our needs. None of this is really his fault, it's actually the Lakers fault for bringing him here. They ALL should have seen that train wreck coming. Especially Russ because it was his career! After 20 years, everyone knows that you better be a good shooter to play next to Lebron, you better have multiple skill sets to work with him and you better not be a ball dominant only player to play with him.

Russ can run an offense just fine, for the most part, he has his moments where he gets hot and can score but when he is not running the offense and he ain't hot from the field, he was not helping our team. He is a much better fit on the Clippers. Good for him. They need his value, we didn't and he could not provide us the things we needed. Will anyone, ANYWHERE, say that we did NOT improve drastically when moving him? We did and everyone knows it.

Hey, we dumped Zubac, who was mediocre here and he ended out starting for the Clippers for years. He wasn't bad, just didn't fit our plans. There are a lot of good players around the league that need to play for a certain type of team to succeed, if they end out on the wrong team or with the wrong coach it can make or break their careers.

Pretty much this above. Different situations sometimes produce different results.

Interestingly D'Angelo is in a similar situation here. The kid is very talented, but he's been traded 4 times in an 8 season career. He seems like a great fit in his second go round with the Lakers though. That trade worked out well for all sides involved IMO.

But Russ and Lebron had a two man net rating of +6.8. Higher than Russ and George +3.2 and Russ and Leonard +2.5 respectively.

The fact is the Lakers gutted their team and were paying Russ 47 million. They had numerous vet minimums in their rotation. The clippers have him on a vet minimum and get to keep their depth so it's far beyond just a Russ and Lebron thing.

Anyways, the Clippers are 8-8 with him overall so it's not like they're killing it.

Yeah, guess so, but I still don't think Russ was every going to be at his best with us. And yeah, the difference between playing for 1 million vs 47 million is huge. Our team sucked.

those numbers surprise me. but your second point is the crucial one--russ on a vet min is just fine because you can then afford the players you need to surround him with. we couldn't. when our two big guns were out like the clips were the other night, we didn't have robert covington on the deep deep bench (making 12 million per) to come in and go 7-7 from three. we had trevor ariza. sometimes.

    I actually love both.
I’m not a Metallica fan at all, but their version is excellent.

Russ is not going to be at his best in any role that doesn't call for him to have the ball 90% of the time. With Kawhi and PG for 13 games he's putting up a modest 13, 7, and 5 on 45% fg and from 25% from 3 splits. That includes him being benched in numerous 4th quarters.

When they are out, his usage shoots up as the vocal point and he's capable of the occasional monster game. We all know that leads to no where though.

Sounds pretty ominous. These sorts of measures are designed to punish teams like the Lakers. Also gives Jeanie a new excuse to be cheap.

well, the clips and bkn and gs have outspent us by a decent margin recently, so i guess my hope is that it brings those guys back down to where we have hardcapped ourselves?

Welp, I said this earlier this week and Dennis was incredible defensively last night lol. He’s too small consistently shut down scoring PGs, but his disruption at the point of attack last night was crucial in the second half.

No mle or buyouts is pretty substantial, imo. Think of all the guys the teams named above have gotten using those routes.

So rather than the cheapskate teams adjusting or catching up, the teams that can/will pay are being penalized. Yeah, greaaaat.
