i actually think luka and kyrie can still work, in theory. they just moved their best wing defender in that trade and had no replacement for him. but long-term, i just don't see luka staying there. the organization is just kind of a mess since dirk retired.

Cuban will try to lock Doncic up for the rest of his career. He is right now the face of that organization. Keeps them relevant...puts fans in the seats. Even if it is disjointed at the moment.

i mean, he can try. but if that situation doesn't improve dramatically, i don't see why luka doesn't walk.

Man did they screw up by letting Brunson go. They would have all their assets left to add a defensive big to go along with Brunson/Luka offensive pairing.

yeah, it's hard to figure out that story, as each side tells it a little differently. the big issue is that brunson didn't really break out until late last season and the playoffs. the mavs and him had talked extension (at a much lower number than he ended up getting) prior to the year and during parts of it. brunson says the mavs walked away the last time, and if you read the tea leaves, it sounds like his decision to leave was then, not during FA.

anyway, they bungled it one way or the other, but i'm not sure someone would have blamed them too much for not feeling super confident in brunson as anything more than a backup pg prior to about january of last year.

Yeah I don't really get the Mavs shuffling guards around Luka. First Brunson then Dinwiddie and now Kyrie. They really should go after better bigs.

Oh well, better for us when Luka's contract is up

I lowkey love it. He's like the 8th man KG. At the end of the day I want my roster to care like that.

Not sure why Darvin has declared that Austin is staying in the starting lineup, unless D'Angelo is going to miss a couple of more games.

Beasley will stay on the bench and we’ll start DLO and Reaves.

Not thinking about Beasley. I think Troy and Jarred should start. Austin isn't needed in the starting lineup, he can close.

Uhhhh, since forever, the guys with the most impact on wins usually start. Those of us who have been watching the games recently realize Austin has earned this.

I watch games too..most of them twice. It's more about his impact on the court. He's the 4th option starting with James,Davis and Russell. He'd be the 1st option off the bench with Dennis. He's earned the right to play, starting the game doesn’t mean that you are closing it. That's more important. Javale was a nominal starter on the chip team.
