he didn't grow up in a rich family or anything like that, but he certainly wasn't brought up dirt poor in the hood either (like he'd have you believe with his recent behavior.) his family would best be described as middle class, as he's alluded to in the past

aside from that, uh oh if true

You know, the message on it's surface is great but the assumptions he makes are wishful thinking.
Nobody goes from being an ignorant a-hole to being an enlightened intelligent person off of one instance. It is really rare, most people are fighting deeper demons that can take years to get past and learn how to cope. Not that he can't and not that we should judge him harshly but if he was somehow in my life, I would be very wary of him and watch him closely. I have personal experience dealing with mentally challenged folks, sycophant's and narcissists who always have to be right. Even when they know what they are are truly want to change, it usually takes up most of their lives.

If Kobe got treated the way he was by the NBA, then let's be fair and understanding, how should the NBA treat Ja?

I'd rather wait to hear more information about the situation. Jalen makes some good points, but he grew up in a different environment from Ja. Jalen was an inner-city kid from Detroit, and while it's well known that his father was a former NBA player Slick Watts, he didn't have a relationship with his dad growing up. I can understand that, in regards to the lure of the streets.

From all accounts I've read, Ja's father is very hands on with his son. He grew up in small town South Carolina. His dad played with Ray Allen in High School, and was an aspiring hooper himself. He played a big role in his development as a basketball player and before all this recent stuff blew up, was getting a lot of credit for keeping the kid grounded. I'd like to hear what he has to say about all this stuff. A lot of things surrounding the kid lately, just seems off.

Stop it and stay away. Unless you want to come here for the mid level, which is what you're actually worth.

unless the pay is in line with the production of an undersized and declining player, LeGM gets to be told no once again.

Great take by Jalen. One small thing that isn't mentioned much is teams don't have many true VETS any more. I don't think a VET would have completely saved JA
from this situation, but I think its important to have a respected veteran in the locker room. Teams today are super young and jump right into fame and riches. Not
everyone can handle it and the more strong voices the better.

yeah they're a pretty young team. steven adams is the oldest player on the roster and he's still only 29

you just don't have as many vets in their mid-late 30s anymore like you did back in the day
