I think Russ would start, he isn’t THAT good, but he has been an all-star, kind of pointless to trade for him and think he’d re-sign if we don’t start him. I agree on the rest though, Beasley does one thing. Also we already have Walmart Vanderbilt and Ham doesn’t play him. I do think Bev is going to also probably be traded though, so that solves some of it, if Bev and Lonnie go out Reaves will play. This can’t be for 2 firsts though, no way, would be a big mistake. More than anything I think the trade would be about some future flexibility and having moveble players teams might want, so I dunno, have to see the full thing to judge if it happens.

D'lo would potentially be a MASSIVE upgrade over Westbrook on offense.

    RESTRICTED AREA
    Westbrook - 57.7%
    D'Angelo - 70.3%

    IN THE PAINT (NON RA)
    Westbrook - 31.9%
    D'Angelo - 42.5%

    MID-RANGE
    Westbrook - 31.4%
    D'Angelo - 51.1%

and we all know the 3pt gap.

According to Anthony Irwin, Laker fans will most likely like the deal so it might not be for both 1st rounders.

Those "ten players" can't be real parts of a "contending" rotation.

Westbrook when traded is likely getting bought out and his days of being in a "playoff contending rotation" are likely over unless he miraculously learns to shoot at his advanced age.

Beverley can't defend like he use to and age has caught up to him.

Gabriel is a nice "spark" guy but he isn't a rotational piece on our team because he can't guard quicker forwards/swings.

Bryant is perfectly fine as a backup center and can score but is too soft to be a serious rotation option of 8. He would be a 9 or 10 and for us is only seeing time when AD is out.

Brown Jr. and Walker are undersized and better served NOT in an 8-man rotation either.

On a contending team, none of those guys are ideal in an 8-man rotation. Which leaves AD, James, Rui and Reaves.....period.

Because of many of the reasons we mentioned- all three of Russell, Beasley and Vanderbilt could be parts of an 8-man rotation and maybe they can spin PatBev and Walker to get another- giving you the 8 and letting Gabriel, Bryant, Schroder and Brown be your 9-12.

Younger, taller and better shooting all around....

Contract year D. Lo has been very good on offense and neutral on defense. If you can get that for the rest of his prime, he's legit good NBA starter whose only 26.
It's a risk but he actually seems to fit the mold of guys who when playing with Lebron have flourished

Wasn't he moved to make cap room to bring LeBron here? It's like Slava said .... ball is like circle or something like that.

Woooow. DLO is not a starter in half of the teams of the league

For 1 pick is understandable. For 2 picks is a terrible business.
Either way, we get better but have no title shot with that deal. Not sure everyone has that view around here

OK looking at this Mini-Jazz-Lakers deal with us getting D'Angelo and apparently nothing else using a FRP but maybe with protections, that's not clear yet (doubtful with Ainge). Vanderbilt and Beasly apparently have been in the discussions too but no mention as to their destinations.

Interesting, at least D'Angelo falls into the "mini" wing category @ 6'4" without shoes, 6'5" with. He certainly is shooting well this season. His efficiency numbers as well as defensive are higher than ever this season. As I recall he flashed some defensive potential here as well. He gets 31 million this season and is expiring.

    DRstat.gif
Currently shooting better from 3 and 2 than Kyrie, CP3, KD, Zack Lavine, Damian Lillard, FVV, Rozier, James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Harrison Barnes...and better than anyone on our team not named Max or Thomas Bryant but those guys are low attempts, less than 2, DR takes 7 attempts from 3, about the same from 2 where he hits .546.

That would be an interesting storyline if Rob gets back the piece he used to dump Mozgov. One way to look at it would be we used a way-in-the-future FRP to dump Mozgov while sending an immature D'Angelo off for some seasoning and getting a mature one for basically nothing (though we would have to count the assets we used on Westbrook, and also we got Brook Lopez and a 27th pick).

To whoever mentioned it above, I seriously doubt the deal includes US getting Beasly and Vanderbilt but, it's possible there are some 2nd round picks and players being thrown around too.

Ainge is talking to other teams about Conley too (amazingly, might be pipe) so no deals are consummated yet.

You're better off keeping Russ' contract rather than do that proposed deal

It’s not about Russ. I would have packed Russ’ bags for Kyrie. It’s just about having flexibility long term while competing in the short term. And that’s a fine line.

My argument is simple I don’t think Dlo is THAT much of an improvement over Westbrook that it makes us a contender. Beasley isn’t that much better than Reaves or Walker who he is going to eat the minutes from. And Vanderbilt is in completion with Rui and Gabriel for minutes.

Throwing away future picks for marginal improvement isn’t worth it for me. OG is a clear improvement at SF. Kyrie was a clear improvement at the Guard. I’m trying to get starters not rotation players, we have enough of those.

We’re not far from tanking with three HOF’ers right now and the league’s all time leading scorer. We’re under .500. It can’t get much worse than that.
