I hope this doesn’t get much traction. Kyrie wants to get paid. If the Nets had given him the contract he wanted we aren’t here now.

I would happily eat Hayward's contract if we could also get Rozier. Hayward is a expiring contract next season and he fills a need for a big wing that can be a playmaker as well as hit open 3s. The benefit to Hayward's expiring contract is we could use it in the summer or next year's trade deadline to try to get a disgruntled all star, along with our future picks (again).

If we don't and just walk into the summer letting Westbrook/Beverly expire, we would have $25 mil in cap space. Who would we realistically sign that would make this team better than if we had got Rozer+Hayward? We'll probably end up giving the $25 mil to Gary Trent Jr or Draymond Green and that would be our big offseason signing.

Gordon doesn't fill anything except his pockets with wasted money as he sits on the bench and spectates which is what he will be doing with 3 different spells of inactiveness this season alone. He's 33 next month, he isn't becoming less injury prone. As a side note he is shooting 30% from 3 this season. The only redeeming quality he has at this point is that his contract is only for 1 more year. I'd rather go for Fred VanFleet packaged with someone like Gary Trent Jr using the picks but not including Austin Reaves as has been suggested.

We need to bust that Draymond scenario as early as possible. We need to keep most of our guys here like Hachimura Reaves Bryant Schroeder and Brown

Reaves and Christy are a big part of the future of this team, we're lucky to have them. With Kyrie's many issues, coupled with the fact that he is not getting any younger, especially when taking into account a 4-year deal, presumably @ max, it's a pass. Losing Reaves hurts us, badly, losing Max may hurt down the road. Don't get me wrong, right now Kyrie is probably the single best add you could do outside of KD but besides all the other stuff, he brings a danger with him, you never know what this idiot will say to get himself in bad trouble.

I don't believe it was to spite us however as much as it was to spite Kyrie, and let's face it, he really deserves that. Dude is a 100% grade-A jerk with how he behaved in BRK.

So, he sucks at his job for not giving up our only two good young players, PLUS both Firsts, PLUS pick swaps???
Wrong. That is an insanely lopsided trade in the Nets favor. Austin is currently our third best player and Max is the (developing) prototypical 3 and D wing that every team in the League covets.

In my mind Rob is forgiven here completely. BRK wanted to fleece us because they did not want to acquiesce to Kyrie's desires. Best to look elsewhere.

Chris Haynes was just on Aaron Larsuel's live chat and here's what I recall...

    - doesn't think FVV or Siakam get moved.
    - hasn't heard OG linked to us at all, it's a lot of New Orleans chatter regarding him
    - we're back at it looking for shooting
    - last time we talked to Utah about a Russ deal was early last week. Doesn't know who would be involved. Guessing, Beasley and JC + ? (Mentioned Beasley and LA 2x during the chat, significant since he just had Beasley on his pod with Stein last week)
    - some mumbling about LaVine and the Lakers early in Jan, but nothing since
    - Trent Jr makes a lot of since for what we're looking for
    - most likely player who's not on the Lakers to end up on the Lakers by Thursday: didn't want to commit to anyone, took the layup with Cam Reddish

Irving was obviously the big name, but there is still ways to upgrade this roster. I sort of doubt the front office's ability to do so at this point, but we there is a chance.

i dont really believe any the reports of what teams were demanding from us, just ploy by rob to leak things that will absolve him of his inaction. Look at Rui trade, did Was fleece him? Utah went from demanding 2 unprotected 1st for Bogdanovic to settling for Det deal?

Thanks for sharing this news. It pretty much confirms exactly what my trickle of information (below) was saying as well. Good to know!

So Rob will go through the trouble, time and the actions of setting rumors out there that Brooklyn wanted to fleece us because he'd rather sit on the couch and play COD than make a phone call. Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

He's a known workaholic, which means action. Not inaction.

the fleecing part I dont believe, like bogdovic trade, going from 2 unprotected 1st to saben lee/kelly olynx....what trouble did he need to go to leak tidbits of trade details? Every gm leaks disinformation all the time

I would strongly advise everyone in here not wasting your time between now and the deadline. The Lakers ain’t doing s*** except small insignificant trades like the Rui trade.

If we make a few small yet significant trades without the '27 or '29 FRP then it's not bad at all, we still will have around 25 million + MLE after Rui to deepen the roster depending on what contracts come in.

Absolutely. This one isn't on Rob. He called he offered Russ and the picks. That's as good as they should have hoped for. Them trying to add on Reaves and Christy too was way overboard. No way I do that. I'm glad we didn't. Honestly I feel like our two FRP's was even too much for Kyrie. Unless we were getting at least Harris back.
