Yeah. I was never huge on it but felt like we had to check it out. I get the reservations we had in going all in for him. I also think the Dallas deal was pretty solid as I like Dinwiddie and they got a few picks. Nets are fourth in the east do I understand not wanting to completely blow it up.

Like I said..it was more personal than some great package. They weren't all that fond of Spencer when he was in Brooklyn before. They just wanted to spite Kyrie by not sending him to the Lakers. KD will get the exact same treatment if he asks out again.

They could have moved Westbrook and got more pieces plus the picks. That Mavs deal wasn't all that great at all.

Im glad Reaves and Max are still on the team. Lakers need more defense and shooting.Irving could be an option next season.

We didn't had more to offer.

He would fit perfectly with our current roster. But he has a history of not making franchises better recently and is a ticking bomb for the next problem. I understand people want to go all-in for a title in the next 2 years, but I want to do that while still being relevant post-Lebron (which is a 5 year window) or have a proper plan.
Kyrie might as well decided to play 2k next season, it's as likely as it is for him to be successful. You just don't know

The guy just gave up on a team that is playing great basketball the past 2 months and that's without KD for some time. They had a real shot after all the drama and he decided to bring new drama and gave up on KD and the Nets who endured all his crazy behavior. You can't trust him.

When you trade picks, it's usually for the timeline of the guys you're getting. We aren't doing that in this deal. We could very much be without LeBron, AD and Kyrie by 2027 and have a purgatory that would extend until 2030.

I'm fine moving on and glad it got decided quickly so we have time to still poke some teams.
This also shows that Dallas are way more desperate than it seems which indicates Luka's disappointment with the franchise is bigger than it seems. He may be available in the next couple of years and that's the type of guy you want to be ready for when it's time. Like we did with AD. There's around 5 guys a year that guarantee you will be in title contention, he's one of them and worth waiting to have a 10 year window

    that's good to know.

at the end of the day Nets still feel like they can make a splash in the playoffs, and we couldnt give them any win now pieces apart from engaging a 3rd team in the trade.

One thing is for damn sure, this better recalibrate the market for the likes of Detroit, Utah, San Antonio, and even Charlotte. If Kyrie, even as a rental who's off his rocker, just went for one first. Then those guys better come down on your expectations for their available players.

I'm surprised Brooklyn didn't take the Phoenix deal, you would think that would be the best "win now" trade while also getting future picks.

The Lakers deal was really the worst one presented by all teams.... Westbrook is such negative value that we still have to give up picks for a team to take him on for another 3 months, it's really sad.

for sure Kyrie is great when he focuses on basketball, but they got two nice reliable rotation pieces back plus the picks

Any other team: “What are you looking for in a trade?”
    Nets: “Are you the Lakers?”
    Any other team: “Um, no.”
    Nets: “Deal!”

Nets got 73 from their "other two guards" last night (Cam Thomas and Edmund Summer), even if it was against the Beal-less and for most of the game Kuzma-less Wizards- and of course they still have Seth Curry. They have a nice set of forwards, obviously with the return of KD and Warren and of course Joe Harris and Royce O'Neal.

Now they get to add to that mix with two more in Dinwiddie and Finney-Smith.

What they don't have is anything helping Claxton up front, which is why I was hoping we could have gotten a Poeltl/Richardson led-package from SA as the 3rd team to flip to Brooklyn, but the truth remains that no one wants to help the Lakers and take on Russell Westbrook.

Pelinka/LeBron, etc screwed the pooch big time on clamoring for that trade...

I honestly wouldn’t want Russ especially with Durant but I think they may regret passing on the picks.

The Phoenix deal is interesting depending on the picks involved.

Shams lays out our interest in Kyrie from the summer until today

They wanted the kids, the two 1sts and swaps. f*** them.

From the Suns, they wanted 3 firsts

Front office really has gotta develop some friendships beyond Klutch and the Wizards around the league or we’re never going to be able to get anything done.
