I get not wanting to lose all that cap space by letting Russ and the others expire, but not for Cam Reddish. He can’t even get play time on bad teams. No idea why we’re even talking about this guy. I don’t think we should punt the season, and that’s what we’d be doing trading anything for him. Every asset we’ve talked about is more valuable than Reddish IMO.

That said I’d give up most of the team plus picks for Grant or any of Toronto’s wings really.

Grant and Dejounte Murry didn't even get traded for the asking price that Utah wanted, dont know why Rob couldn't think outside the box....both guys couldve been part of the future core

    Latest from Fischer

    Headlines:

    - Pacers looking to be buyers. They've held internal discussions about John Collins.

    - If Turner extension talks go nowhere, Knicks or Raptors could be a trade partner for Myles.

    - Jazz will be sellers. Want a 1st for Beasley and a 1st for Vanderbilt.

    - Wiz intend to keep Kuz

    - 6ers looking to improve, if the right deal isn't there then they could sell off Kormaz, Thybulle, and/or Springer (he's bad offensively, but I'd be interested in Thybulle depending on the price) to avoid repeaters tax.

    - Kings have made Holmes available.

I imagine our next 10 day will be signed on the 16th or 18th. Sterling won't be back unless he kills it in the next couple games.

did anyone suggest we give up anything of value for reddish? a 2nd rounder and nunn isn't much. and reddish doesn't eat into cap space. we could simply not offer the QO if he sucks.

don't see why portland becomes a seller, even if they continue losing. they're buyers until dame's done, imo. they have to be feeling some remorse about selling mccollum to watch him become the missing piece for NO.

murray was traded for 4 1sts (1 swap). it would have taken literally every asset we had, plus we didn't even have a contract that SA would take in return (russ's was too big, they wanted 1sts just for that). so no, that wasn't about rob not being creative.

nor was grant, whom rob pursued prior and was ultimately trade into space (important detail) and for a 1st and 2 2nds (which I'm sure we offered during the season last year when we were after him).

btw, this is why i'm interested in getting a TE from the spurs in a russ trade. we could sort of have our cake and eat it, too, with respect to operating over the cap and having something resembling FA spending power.

makes sense for them, imo. would be a nice add. problem is that it would make the turner extension impossible. and i'm not sure it makes sense if it ends up costing you turner as a peripheral damage...

knicks have some picks to burn, raptors have OG.

i'll give you one olynyk each, ainge.

thybulle's down to 12mpg. he's obviously never gotten there on offense, but he's a VERY good wing defender. if the price is low enough...but does philly really just sell here? they're in contention.

what happened to him? i thought he was a great pickup for them, then he just...disappeared. i get that they brought in sabonis, but still...

we don't have use for him anyway, but somebody should, unless something happened i don't know about.

Why would we even give a 2nd rounder or Nunn for Reddish? He provides nothing if he can’t even get off the bench for bad teams

i think that's an overstatement and indicative of...not having seen nunn? anyway, the point is you're paying for potential, not current production.

i don't see why it's riling you up?

soriano saying what i've been saying:

though i'd add that we can basically operate as an over-the-cap team without making any trades right now. again, probably not my preference, but i do think it's important that everyone understands that 30 million under the cap requires renouncing all current FAs and foregoing the MLE in favor of the room exception.

i know our FO knows this, but some fans and media may not fully grasp it.

Not riling me up. I just don’t support it at all. I don’t see any potential in Reddish. Other than height and age, what do you see?

Nunn is sucking, but a 2nd round pick is a 2nd round pick which is more valuable for the Lakers considering our history finding gems in the second round. If we’re talking about Nunn for him straight up. I still don’t like it. Nunn at least has shown something in the past. I’d rather bet Nunn can get back to what he was than Reddish can become something he’s never shown to be.

We have been pretty good with our 2md round picks, but we literally just bought pick 35 for cash. It's not hard to acquire more 2nd round picks. Even if Nunn's play does improve some, he's still going to be behind Russ, Dennis, Austin and Lonnie in the rotation. I'd rather gamble on Reddish showing something with us than keeping a fifth guard on one of our only tradeable salaries.

I think we would be in good shape if we trade for players. Even if we trade for expiring contracrs, we could use bird-rights to sign them. This option would be better than simply having cap space in the off-season. It would be useful however, to get under the luxury-tax so we could have the non-tax payer MLE to sign Bryant, for example. We will not have the bird-rights of several of our current players, namely Bryant, Shroder, and Walker. Some form of MLE would have to be utilized to sign at least one of these guys. We do have the bird-rights to Reaves, and Nunn.

i've just seen some serious flashes of talent from reddish--the kind that you can't coach up. like i said, the same could be said for josh jackson, and he's out of the league. so reddish may bust, too.

but lonnie and monk supposedly sucked before they came here, too.

i agree with sk that 2nd rounders just aren't that valuable. we already have one more than we need next year, and we keep managing to get them when we want them.

i don't think nunn is likely to return to miami form at this point, and i don't expect him to be back with the team in any case next year.

Second rounders are definitely easy to come by. Definitely not something we’d really miss.

I’m not sure what kind of players guys would expect in that kind of trade.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of flashes from him, especially in ATL. We have the best player development assistant coach in the NBA. I like our odds of unlocking his potential. As it's been said, it's a low risk swing that addresses a position of need and clears up a logjam.

@Barnstable I wouldn't put too much stock in decisions made by Thibs. His methods and decisions are why he got the ax in Minny and why Knicks fans haven't been exactly thrilled with him there (although I'm not sure a Knicks fan is ever happy). He's not a player's coach and I think he sees player development beneath him. He was great in Chicago but the NBA and the kind of coach that succeeds has really shifted since then.

Why are they looking at Centers after the way Thomas Bryant has been playing?

For what it’s worth, I don’t think Leonard is racist.

I think he said a slur in the spur of the moment while playing an online game, without really realizing what the slur meant. Probably just echoing something he heard from other gamers trying to be edgy.

Apparently he quickly showed genuine remorse and took steps to make it right with the Jewish community. A lot of the things that Kyrie got forced into doing, Leonard did on his own.

I’m moreso confused on why we’re working out centers while Bryant has been playing out of his mind. If we cut Jones or send him out in a trade, then sure we should add another big man for depth. But currently with Lonnie and Reaves still out, I would figure a wing is still a bigger position of need from our next 10 day contract
