i don't know what a pep and klopp are, but i do think that dealing with lebron's retirement/decline will be dicey and informative. will he offer to take some cuts in salary to stay relevant, or will he want the kobe golden parachute. if it's the latter, we sort of have to oblige, despite what the press will say. i think our treatment of kobe is why lebron is here. but staying in contention as lebron ages will definitely be tough.

I'm in the minority, but if Giannis is aiming to come here and commits, LBJ will have to take a pay cut, and I think he will.

I don't think that happens anybody else but Giannis, though.

We'll have some things to work with this summer; Kuz, a late 1st, Green's expiring, some 2nds, and maybe Caruso who was sought after this year.

I expect Rob to be very aggressive this summer

The first call I make is Kuz, Green and our first this season for DeRozan. He's an expiring contract. Run one season out there with Lebron, AD, and DeRozan. Then go for broke on Giannis.

I do think Lebron would help us out if Giannis was going to come here. It wouldn't necessarily be a paycut. But something along the lines of opting out of his last year and resigning for less than the max for 3 seasons or something like that. We could afford to have a Lebron albatross for a couple years if we had AD and Giannis in their prime. No one would beat AD, Giannis and obviously Caruso in their prime.

Maybe. I make the call though. A starting five of Howard/AD/Derozan/KCP/Lebron would be tough to beat.

Pep is a description of Corky Romano's attitude. A Klopp is a noise a horse makes.

i dont like dd gm, his lack of 3pt shot is more of a hindrance to ad/james, its not just thats ges not good from there he wont take any, i think thus far this season hes attempted like 10 of em or something that low

Why Derozan? Can’t shoot and bad defender

I rather go for Buddy Hield

Aaron Gordon isn’t a great floor spacer either, but a very good defensive wing who is big and long

I make that call as well but Pop might hang up when he's heard its Rob calling. Wonder if Pop still likes Kuz enough to even consider it.

Wow, they are tanking hard. Good thing there is no obvious superstar in this year’s draft, they don’t deserve it.

Buddy Heild has several years left on his contract. I chose DeRozan since he expires, he's a vet, and he can create his own shot. Right now, we have two guys who can get their own shot.

The other aspect of trading for someone who has more than 1 yr is how much of a paycut will Lebron take.

This is a convo that we obviously don't know, but Rob will soon have to find out this summer.

Fournier makes some sense, but I bet he opts out and signs a nice deal this summer

I think Lakers need to do whatever they can to secure a Giannis signing. You sign a guy like that and then also have AD long term? The rest of the league is SCREWED. Love LeBron but the next 6-7 years of Giannis will be something special for the Lakers.

I honestly don’t think Giannis is coming, to me it looks like PG and Kawhi part 3, a lot of flirting and rumors but no follow through. He seems happy in Milwaukee, only way I can see him even consider leaving is if they fail to reach the Finals repeatedly, because I do remember him saying something like he will do what he needs to in order to win.

That's what they all say... But I think a lot of players who looked up to Kobe will really consider it. Giannis is also very close to Kidd and wanted to go to management to vouch for Kidd before they fired him. I mean, it's still a pipedream but I wouldn't rule it out. If you were to tell me LeBron would be a Lakers three years ago, I'd laugh. Why not Giannis?

I hope we do our homework better with Giannis when his free agency time comes.
