I don't see Rondo or KCP opting out as evidence that they want to leave. Players who have the option to opt-out and played really well will always get as much money as they can. Lakers would be dumb to let go of either of them if both of them won't affect their cap and are going to just cost a few milli more. I don't suspect either of these players to fetch huge offers, anyways. KCP, MAYBE, but I think even KCP knows it's best to stay near LeBron if he wants to get paid.

its evidence they want to get paid and 1 yr deals isnt necessarily the way to get that and their agents should know of 21 cap plan which would mean if theres a chance at a big name FA both guys are gone any how because you have to renounce their cap hold and we wont have anything more than mle for kcp and vet min again for rondo, if someome came at rondo and gave him a 2yr 20M deal thats better than a 1yr 10M deal

i mean, if rondo gets that deal, good for him. we don't have to give it to him, though.

we should have his early bird rights and kcp's bird rights, so we can pay them well enough to scare off lowball suitors with no problems.

i doubt someone with cap space thinks spending a bunch of it on either is a good idea. kcp will get plenty of MLE offers, but we can beat that easily.

MLE is roughly what kcp was already making and does mgmt commit to him multiple yrs with the 21' cap plan?

why not another large 1 year deal? say, 20 million? we have full bird on him, so we can do a lot of things. and if he wants a 2 year/30 million dollar deal like green got last year, that's fine. again, you can move the final year of a contract if giannis says he wants to play for you (that's not happening anyway, but...).

i just don't think we have huge issues. the main concern is if dwight gets a big offer, i think. we can't pay him more than the MLE and probably don't want to use that on him anyway.

so, to me, he's the biggest flight risk. and we could replace him with the MLE, in theory, but then that eats up any chance to improve the team by pure addition.

I dont see any 1 offering multi yr deals to Dho, I actually think hes the easiest to retain, Rondo n Kcp can/will garner multi yr deals, I can easily see KCP getting 3-4 yr deal in the 12-15M range while rondo getting a 2+1 in the 8-10M range

Talks on salary cap and tax continue with NBA/NBPA. Had league and union followed the normal formula to determine this season's salary cap -- linking it to overall league revenue -- sources told ESPN that it would have fallen to around $90M -- down from about $109M in 2019-20.

not at all sure about either, but especially the latter. i think it's much more likely that dwight gets several 3 year MLE offers from other playoff teams. but we'll see soon, i guess. free agency can be crazy.

wow. small market teams will (and should) be afraid to go full-on mozdeng here. might be good for us.

If salary cap falls - that should, in theory, favor us greatly.

Dont get the DD interest by some here, isn't a good 3pt shooter or shoots it much at all, not a good defender, not a good catch and shoot guy, hardly moves w/o ball, likes to iso score.....thats not good opt 3 material

NBA players may only be offered a 50-game season, I'm told, if the union insists on a mid-January start rather than the Dec. 22 proposal, because the league's television partners do not want the 2020-21 season to stray past mid-July ... or clash with the Tokyo Olympics

And on top of that he's one of the biggest playoff chokers of this generation. I would father risk it with a younger guy with breakthrough potencial.
