this cannot be emphasized enough. again, it's over, we won... other good points were made, but i had to highlight the importance of that statement.

Too bad we don't hang competitive seasons in our rafters then...

Imagine investing so much time into a team and considering every year a waste if they don’t win the title. How do half the teams in the league even have fans still? Lakers fans are the definition of spoiled.

Well, you have to be realistic here. It's not easy to suddenly go from a lottery team to championship. But going lottery -> legitimate contender is pretty sweet. Now, most of us see this year as the opportunity to win it all, for sure, but hopefully we'll be able to really make a statement next year as well. You can't win it all every single year, and it would be boring too. Being a great team and contending will bring so many fans joy for years to come. As long as AD stays and others are willing to come play with him. Bron still has plenty of fuel left in his tank if he continues to play more like Magic.

The main reason I want to win a title is to eventually move ahead of Boston.

If we are merely competitive, I would have rather watched our kids develop.

I'm not saying anyone else has to feel this way... but I was happy to see their growth.

Since we traded them all, then yes... for me personally... it's worth it only if there's a title.

So I don't think I'm spoiled because I'd be okay with being 41-41 this season as long as the kids showed improvement.

I'm also okay if we win the title or at least come very close without the kids.

A first or second round exit and losing the kids will be a disappointment.

It's a waste because we have two top five players and one of them is turning 36 next season. Our title chances won't be higher than it is now for the next few years. Get with the program, buddy.

absolutely, and by legitimate contender, i think the benchmark is going to the WCF... bowing out early on in the playoffs would certainly be a disappointment... but i think you are spot on in saying that this year should be a springboard for the years to come: adding pieces via smart basketball/business transactions and positioning ourselves to acquire another star(s) as Lebron reaches retirement...

we went from zero to hero, and obviously everyone wants a ring now, but even more important is being a contender and legitimate title threat for the remainder of AD's career (and beyond/indefinitely)... some here need to take a deep breath, take a step back, and evaluate the state of affairs from 10,000-ft elevation... things are good, life is good -- despite Kobe's untimely departure from this world -- but you cannot simply say ring or bust; that is a child's view of things.

I don't get why we didn't push to sign one of these two? Size we desperately need at the 3

Pretty surprised we seem to be standing pat, I guess that chemistry is something they really do not want to risk.

    Both not very good

Carrol is 6'6 215, not very big (or very good)

Really only hoping for Harkless or Reggie, not much is left

Curious to see how that works. Both guys were crap this year, but Houston’s system can polish turds with the best of them.

Jeff Green sucks. He’s been done for a few stops now.

These two guys can't really play anymore. The Rockets are just curious to see how small they can realistically play, you know... maybe use a 6-6 guy as a center in the playoffs.

I've kind of given up on the idea of Lakers signing any new players. I think we're stuck with Rondo.

yeah, i think the rockets are playing a numbers game here. they have some older guys who are all going to be playing up 2 positions. that's a recipe for injuries. maybe they just want to make sure they're not playing eric gordon at center.

not that dantoni would be against that...

neither of these guys supplants rondo in the rotation. or kuz. or probably even dudley? the buyout market hasn't been as flush as i'd hoped. i didn't expect much, mind you--i just hoped someone interesting would shake loose.

i kinda wanted vince carter for our squad, tbh.

We're stuck with Rondo; John Ireland was questioned about this and presented evidence with advanced stats noting Rondo's negative presence on the floor.

Ireland's answer: LBJ and Vogel trust him.
