It would be insane. Not that I think Westbrook is a smart enough player to channel that hatred into something positive. I mostly see several maniacal drives into the lane where he dribbles it out of bounds or throws up an awkward layup that bounces 20 feet off the backboard.

I know this is championship or bust type team but I would hope with THT emergence, mgmt would give a little more emphasis on the draft. We need some youths, not saying get a team full of rookies but buying a 2nd rd here and there wouldnt hurt us and with our scouting team I feel confident we'll find more THTs out there

well, certainly, I believe that they have to have an approach that allows them a player or two that they develop THT and Carusso have been those guys over the past couple of years. As they are able to develop and actually be productive on a championship contender, then we add them to the rotation and look to add some youth in their place. Carusso is a pretty solid role player for this team now, so I could see us looking for one more project to develop. THT is still a work in progress, even if he may have a higher ceiling. I am hesitant to grant him guaranteed minutes in our playoff rotation, just spot and circumstantial minutes until he can quit making stupid rookie mistakes. Personally, I think he is still another year away but he is going to get there. Like all the guys we let go. All those kids are productive members of other teams now.

we're about to have a mid-first rounder this year. curious to see what our scouts can do with that.

Lakers have plenty of serviceable drafted players on their team. They need a 3rd star if Lebron wants to win one more after this season, regardless if they win it all or not.

Yeah, truth is, we need someone like Luka where Lebron could just be a smart power forward and play for a few more years. Imagine having Lebron as a third option!

Good point. I totally forgot the silver lining of finishing so low. I just hope this draft class has a diamond in the ruff like THT

given that we've had good luck with late first/early seconds, i wonder if we'll move it for two picks in that range and take two shots at unearthing another clarkson/hart/kuz/THT level player.

man, we've done well in the draft. media gives no credit, either.

yea i didnt realize we get to keep a pick this yr but trading down for 2 high 2nd rders sounds good to me, a few solid 3/D type wings would be nice

No we are NOT, this year's draft pick goes to New Orleans, unless it's 1-8, it's not a pick swap. We don't have a 2nd round pick either, that goes to Detroit.

Actually the best move would be to shut James and Davis down for the rest of the season, and fall out of the playoffs all together. Drafting 1-8 is the only way we get a first round pick this year.

It's Championship or bust period. The goal is to be in a position to win multiple rings. Risking further injury to your franchise player, just to make an appearance in the playoffs, isn't the smart move.

Picking up a lottery pick that could used or traded for another star caliber player. Now that makes more sense, we don't even hang Conference banners, it's all or nothing for the Laker franchise.

except we may not pickup a lotto pick:

if we happened to move into the top 5, it would go to NO. long shot, but that would be pretty bad (not because of what NO gets--who cares--but because we lost a pick we could have used).

anyway, moving up a couple spots in the draft isn't worth wasting a shot at making noise in the playoffs.

i agree that if AD is in a grant hill situation, we just shut him down. but since his return i don't think anyone has said he's still feeling pain in the achilles region.

Yes..My bad..it was reported as going to the Pelicans outside of the top 8 somewhere else.
9-12 could still be used to trade with Schroeder in a sign and trade, or with Kcp and Kuz for a guy like Lavine.

I don't know if there is a player available more valuable than what we could get in a trade though.

You haven't noticed him grabbing his Achilles multiple times since he has been back? The warning signs are flashing code red from what I've seen.

if we wanted to make a splashy trade, we certainly have avenues. it's weird to consider, though, as the season was really undone by injuries. if we returned basically the same squad next year, we should be favored again.

I'd prefer to move Kuzma and Kcp for another player. The pick could get it done.
