I know the guy is talented but he is a total head case. I just have a feeling that he is going to fold under too much pressure. Having Harden and Durant healthy around him is a prime situation for him. But he don't gots dat!!! LOL. I think we are going to be chompin' at the bit, eatin' from the trough with him actually being needed and dependable.

Curry is having a Kobe 2005 to 2007 type season right now. He should be the MVP. Hope the voters don't eff it up again.

That thought hit me too the other day looking at the insanely high scoring runs he has been on generated by his unique skills .... not Harden like BS and tons of free throws with the refs in collusion.

They are gonna give it to Jokic for God sakes. Jokic. What kind of idiots vote for this thing? Do they even understand what MVP means?

i don't like the guy, but embiid is having nearly as impactful a year as jokic (statistically), and his team is an actual contender, imo.

also, chris paul took the suns from garbage to possible 1 seed in the west with basically no other substantive changes to that team.

it's a pretty open race this year, tbh.

hasn't embiid missed a bunch of games?

jokic will win it, but it should go to cp3 in my opinion

Good points, Jokic is good too but maybe a little over rated.

Dang, I have seen articles calling him the best offensive big man to ever play the game. Cough cough ........ Jabbar, Wilt ......... Olajuwon, Malone ......

Gimme a friggin' break, Jokic is not even close to those four, off the top of my head. Hell peak Walton might even be better. And I do think Embid is a better player as well, but not by a lot simply because he has trouble staying on the court. I like AD better too but he has trouble staying on the court as well.

AD at full strength is the very best big in the game, as we saw when we brought home the trophy not that long ago.

and jokic looks great by contrast, as your list suggests--not a ton of great bigs in the game now--partly due to their general rarity and partly because the league has attempted to legislate them out of the game.

anyway, if i had a vote, i really think it would go to paul, as 432j said. phx has no business being where they are. there's exactly one reason for this.

I actually wouldn’t have an issue with CP3 getting the MVP this season, he’s turned that team into a contender. Curry won’t get consideration though, Kobe couldn’t as a 7th seed, Westbrook had to average a triple double as a 7th or 8th seed to get it, it’s almost always 4th seed and up. I don’t like that criteria, but that’s what it is.

Anyone else remember the CP3 rumors before the season started?

we'd have had to gut the team aside from him, lebron, and AD. plus, i'm still skeptical he makes it through a post-season intact. but mvp is a regular season award.

you know what i do remember? when we traded for him while he and kobe were both in their primes, and the league wigged out and blocked it.

jeanie was on matt barnes and stephen jackson's podcast the other day and basically confirmed how the other GMs threw a fit about the trade when it happened

Kobe would have had 7. No doubt. Duncan only 4.

No “might” about it .... peak Walton was freaking awesome, college and the NBA. He always gave Kareem a tough time and seemed to me to outplay him not infrequently. Could be wrong on my memories of the frequency of that.

I’ll never forgive Stern and the other jealous owners and GMs for “basketball reasons.” That was the most heinous and hypocritical thing I’ve ever seen from the NBA brass and petty owners. Stern straight up went against everything he said about not interfering after the NBA took over that franchise (NO). Conflict of effing interest!!!! That debacle will live forever in infamy. And the fact that they did that while taking a chunk of our new TV deal money makes it even more upsetting.

I actually don’t blame Stern so much for it anymore after watching that Jeanie Buss interview. He would have had a mutiny on his hands from the owners because it looked like the trade was agreed to before it was supposed to be eligible since Stern and all the other Owners were in the same room together when the trade was announced as complete.

Sounds like we panicked and traded Lamar before a new trade could be submitted.

stern was basically forced into it after all the other GMs and owners lost their sh*t

all demps had to do was be patient and the trade would've happened, like jeanie says in the video. seems like he panicked after hearing cp3 wanted out and immediately took the lakers offer, which is what caused the rest of the league to throw a fit. what i want to know is why didn't the lakers just resubmit that same offer instead of trading lamar to dallas right away. or who knows? maybe they did and that's where stern intervened to ensure NO got a lesser package so they could tank for the #1 pick and become more attractive to buyers
