Well, yeah, I’d take him over Kostas, but I was talking about guaranteed contract/rotation guys. He’d have to agree to a 2-way in that case though, because I’m not wasting an actual roster spot on him.

:D Well, Rob literally went to the same college as Mo, so I wasn’t sure if it was a little bit both of their faults, but yes the rumors are it was a Magic pick as well as Bonga.

Robinson had question marks n fell to 2nd rd, one question mark was he wasnt even capable of passing test to go college thus going straight pro, as for bonga over milton, thats hindsight, im no Bonga fan but dude was touted as a 6'9" versatile pg, who wouldn't take that chance in 2nd rd.

wasn't hindsight. check my and other posts from draft night. bonga looked bad on film and has been bad in the league. being called a pg isn't being a pg. i can call myself a large hairless chinchilla, but that doesn't make it true.

anyway, magic was like jim buss on steroids, and he almost short-circuited the reboot in a period of like, 4 months of drunken management.

I thoughts ya wuz a chihuahua mang!!!

Not fair, Magic did two really good things:

    1. He gave Jeannie the personal support she needed to attempt the takeover of the team from her loser brother!
    2. He got Lebron to come here and started the ball rolling on bringing in Davis.

Then he melted down. OK, I will admit it but he does not deserve the denigration that Jimbo gets. Not fair at all.

yeah, i don't know about either of those. quite possible both happen without him. and even if he was instrumental in those ways, he almost undid the whole thing with a series of ridiculously bad moves.

we're in a good position now, but we could have been in a much better one, imo.

water under the bridge, but i'm glad it's under.

I still don't think we would be the same team if Magic did not step in to help when he did. I grant you he messed up later and frankly, I don't really think he is cut out to be a front office guy. Rob is much better suited to be that guy for us. But, Magic had his hand in this last championship for us and at least 5 others for this team. Dude gets a pass by me. Would much rather have everything he did for us than nothing and cherry picking is just BS anyhow.

I agree with Wino here. I think Magic being part of our FO played a HUGE part in us landing Lebron. I’m not sure how that is even debatable at all. Later on Magic blew it but in that extremely important role of recruiting Lebron, Magic sealed the deal and truly elevated the franchise back to what it should be: the best possible destination for a superstar.

Plus he was squarely and publicly on the side of getting Jimbo Buss out of the building. He messed up with Rob but the man wears his heart on his sleeve. He is going to have good moments and bad moments. My guess is they had extremely different styles and that Rob was getting irritated with him not communicating and being accountable to himself and Jeannie. I will acknowledge it but I am not going to give it much importance. I still want him to be a part of the Lakers family and being involved with the team. Just not as a GM.

Magic had the right intentions... The issue isn't that Magic doesn't know basketball and how to run it. The guy is just too busy to be involved in the day-to-day operations. Pelinka is always around the Lakers. I'm sure Magic wanted to do the best he could but he's got way too many other businesses involved and that affected his role with the Lakers. Even the role in taking Lonzo and not Tatum, does that mean we don't make the trade for AD and not win the ring? Hindsight is easy but look at when Magic took over vs when Magic left. Lakers are in a better position thanks to Magic and Rob finished the job.

Nuggets signed Austin Rivers, which is a good move for them, IMO.

rivers can't do what they need.

those big muscle/tendon injuries can linger. especially in folks who weren't in top condition.

About time, why not, considering he can’t do everything himself, as that’s just not fair, for Kyrie to take some more personal time off?

It’s the position he’s always wanted. Def should be interesting to see how it shakes out
