DS/kcp for lowry actually makes sense. but if toronto's trying to get herro, i'm not sure we're in the bidding. no way they get THT from me.

lowry will be a FA and likely to take either a huge paycut or a very short deal, both of which are good for us.

yeah, i worried about that earlier in the year. i think we'd have a better time negotiating with lowry than with schroder. if we don't value him at 20 per after the close look, we may need to cut ties.

While I like Schroder, I think he's been a bit disappointing because of his bad shooting numbers. We all expected a 37-40% shooter but he's way below average for a guard. Lowry will have his bird rights with us so that would help the Lakers maneuver around. Plus, I think we can all agree that the Lakers probably aren't too happy with how KCP has been playing lately and would rather keep THT and Caruso going forward. Lowry is much older but he's a savvy veteran who can shoot the ball and I think his two years will match up well with LeBron's contract. Anyhow, I probably would rather have Lowry than Schroder+KCP if the Lakers can find another replacement wing shooter.

Man, I just don’t know about relying on a seriously aging Lowry with a new contract. Guy turns 35 tomorrow, and he’s not LeBron who keeps himself in top shape, he’s had bouts of being...Marc Gasolish around the mid-section. So we’d be paying a 35-37 year old Lowry, an age where a lot of players suddenly fall off a cliff in effectiveness.

25 per on 2 years for Lowry does sound more appealing to me than 20 per on 4 years for Schröder.

It also remains to be seen if Schröder would even take 20 million. It sounds like he’s been holding out for a higher number.

I think the trade would be very unlikely, so I’m betting on us keeping Schröder and eventually coming to terms on a reasonable extension. I’m fine with that. While he’s not a star we can build around, he is a good role player on both ends of the court. The way he attacks the basket forces the defense to stay on their toes, they can’t rest on their laurels and focus too much on Bron/AD because otherwise DS will blow by them for an easy layup.

But man, somehow getting Lowry + Drummond and then another cheap wing/guard would be great.

helljumper said it better, but yes--i'd gamble two years on lowry (expecting the last one might be a wash) over 4 on schroder. especially at near the same dollar amount per year. if kcp goes out, we come out 8 million better off, which helps retain AC and THT. might fully bridge the gap, tbh.

yeah, lowry's on borrowed time. but he's a winner, imo. i'd get it if we took the gamble. i'd also be ok with schroder at a full extension from his current salary. but dude wants max, and i just don't see anyone offering that. which means if you sign him to that, you can't trade him. danger.

Lowry seems unlikely unless he wants to be here. Time for Marc to work the phones. KCP and reupped Schroder (wink and nod from Tor) isn't a bad haul for an expiring player. One thing I have consistently heard from nearly every report from everyone regarding Lowry is they will trade him where he wants to go. He's done a lot for the team and the city and they want to do right by him. He wants to go somewhere he can win and that wants to give him that 2 year deal. And while they want to do right by him, I can guarantee they'd rather send him to the opposite conference.

He could help fill in during these tough few weeks and I think he has 2 years left, especially if he's sharing the PG duties with Bron.

I thought immediately that this means we're far off on an extension with Dennis. OR we're trying to pressure his agent into caving on a cheaper deal by putting out that we've got other options.

You know other owners are colluding to help get the Cavs something for Drummond.

Basketball Reasons. Pop and Balmer for sure.

From what we have seen Rob likes to make the home run play....I wouldn't be surprised if he's trying to get both Powell and Lowry to shore up the backcourt. It might cost us KCP, Schroder, THT, Harrell but assuming you also get Drummond .......Lowry/Powell/Bron/AD/Drummond lineup looks much better. You're mortgaging the future but you're getting absolutely better today. Pickup a wing and additional big man from buyouts

Tried it in the trade machine....it works

would absolutely love this. As high as I am as well as most people here on THT. This would be huge. Norman is a great scorer, athletic, can fly, long arms, can defend, and is from ucla.

yes, Lowry would be expensive, but we know what this champion brings.

drummond? Doesn’t even need explaining. The 5 that AD has been clamoring about since he arrived. The do it all, defensive, rebounding machine big that would thrive in the purple and gold.

ughhh just thinking about this scenario is

Yeah I need to step away from this forum, getting way too excited about some of the scenarios being discussed. Yet if I had to bet on it... I still think this is mostly the team we roll into the playoffs with, maybe just a marginal player added on the buyout market but not even any of the big names we’re hoping for.

honestly, it's the right thing. a player in his prime who produces shouldn't be getting bought out to walk to a contender. if he went to the nets, you'd be pissed.

i think dieng could help us just as much and wouldn't expect to start or even play consistently.

To stop evil you might have to do some questionable things though. If it means Harden doesn’t get a ring I’m good with signing top quality buyout players. I like Dieng though, I’d be ok with him too.
