You do not trade 20 year olds who already have ball handling skills and can be play makers at a high level.

Bradley Beal types are the only players you trade good youth players for.

Side note..... as this site gets more popular, and it will. Cookie will eventually have to cut some trees down so I would pick your spots. We do not want this site to be LG. That place turned into a garbage disposal. More people more problems.

Don't be the typical d****** with trade this and fire that after a week of bad ball. That's what starts all that crap. Common sense. Use it, even if you are LT and can't find it. Have sympathy but be firm.

So, none of my following rant is pointed at you are anyone around here. It is a general comment for certain type A sports fans around the web. We probably have some of them here too but less than almost any other sports site I have participated in.

This is exactly why I left LG and came here. There are so many over the top a-holes over there. Self appointed experts!! It just got to the point where it sucked being there. I don't like every person trying to prove that they are the one who knew everything before it happened and there was just too much negativity all the time over every single issue. There was no ability to give the team a chance to rebuild. There are good people there but by and large, the sane folks are kind of ignored. Squeaky wheels got more play.

I understood the negativity that followed Jimmy Buss and Mitch but not necessarily the quickness that it was ramped up at the beginning. What really slayed me was after Jeannie Buss got rid of them and started the rebuild, there was never any understanding or patience for her. Honestly, you have to give the FO of any team a couple of years to to even start turning things around and we have done a miraculous job at that.

Trust me, nobody online is the original thinker for anything to do with the Lakers. The FO is a million steps ahead of you, whether you think so or not. Whether you had a great idea or not two years ago does not give you street cred, get over yourself. I like this site because even the folks who I disagree with are fairly even keeled about it. They don't often ripped you an a-hole to make their point. You can actually disagree with someone and not have to bring your brass knuckles and switchblade to a fight.

I like the size of this site. When things get a lot bigger, it is almost impossible to deal with the BS in the background. I have monitored forums full of egotistical A-holes and it is not fun. Nothing worse than that, and it will suck the enthusiasm right out of many moderators. Been there, done it, hated it.

    Rant over!

Ox, are you suggesting that I get chopped from posting on this site because of my opinion in a potential trades thread? Name calling is what makes sites trash. Not educated opinions.

lol. And your opinion about “you dont trade...” is not gospel. Condescending. But nothing more than your opinion. I get it. Disagreement is healthy. Acting like you know more than everyone else is not. Been posting here for 15 years and watch every game. So...

Anywho...some here were commenting recently that “it’s a wrap...Nets will win it.”

    Picking my spots. : )

And “heck no” to IT. Agreed. Though, those green jerks really did him dirty, and I would love to see him torch Kyrie in a playoff game and flash a ring to Celts fans. But... Nah.

yeah, boston was going to dump him BEFORE his injury, imo. they didn't want to be on the hook for a huge salary there. the injury just made the decision easier for them.

    Online

We are constantly talking about needing shooting. VO does not give this to us. Here are some stats between him and KCP over the last 6 seasons. Some are head to head years, some are best years by either one.

KCP has shot better from 2 every year except VO best season. VO beat him by .4 that season and they tied one other year.
KCP best season from 2 beat VO that year by 10.9 head to head. Best season vs best season KCP still beat VO by 6.5 from 2.

KCP also has the advantage from 3. KCP best year is this year. So far he is shooting 40.9. VO best year is 37.1. VO has only beaten KCP 1 year from 3 in head to head and that was 6 years ago where VO shot 34.8 vs 30.9 for KCP. So as much as members rag on KCP, he’s still better this year then VO best year.

Free throws....KCP is shooting 81.4 this year vs. 77.5. In 6 years head to head, KCP has been better in 4 of those years.

VO has only beaten KCP in 1 year head to head on EFG and that was his best year at 53.7 vs. 52.6. Other years it’s not even close with KCP kicking his a** like this year at 55.6 vs. 47.4. KCP has been in the 50’s 4 of the last 6 years. VO has been in the 50’s 2 out of the last 6 and both of them were 4 or more years ago.

As far as availability we all know who wins at that. KCP is an iron man, VO is made out of tin foil. I’ll take my chance with KCP being healthy in the playoffs 10 out of 10 times before VO. The most games VO has played in the last 6 years has been 72. The least games that KCP has played in the last 6 years has been 74. So his least is more then VO’s most. I’m not counting the shorten season. We have to be able to count on the players we are paying big buck to be able to play. The last 3 years VO has played 27, 19, and 36. To be fair the 27 is this year but he’s already missed games.

I don’t think it’s totally fair to compare THT but he’s better at most everything too except 3 point shooting.

THT 2FG worst year is 52.9 vs best VO year 47.7. THT is at 58.8 this year.
3 point shooting this year 30.8 vs. VO at 33.2. Both of these number are crap but we are paying THT peanuts. THT did shoot
26.9 last year, which is crap crap but he didn’t take that many.
EFG...THT is 53.3 vs. 47.4 for VO this year. Best year for VO is 53.7. THT was a 52.9 last year.
Free throws...THT is at 84% vs 75.9 for VO. THT did suck big time last year at 50% which is lower than VO has ever shot.

In the end we need shooting and VO’s numbers say he’s not the one. Plus if he’s sitting on the bench just cashing those checks, that’s not going to help us come playoff time anyhow.

Who would we be getting rid of, and in order to pay whom? Trade away Kuz and/or KCP so we can pay Schroeder and AC Fresh? I really want to keep KCP. He came up big in the playoffs and especially in the Finals. You just can't put a price on something like that. Not ready to scuttle him so that we can commit to someone unproven in big games like Schroeder.

Hecks to the NO way at Kuz’s salary and with how he has blown up this year do you pick keeping KCP over him if it came to that. By next year you start THT in that slot instead. AC spells DS early and then when Bron goes out Dennis comes back in. I also don’t think we should be paying Schroder “well over” 20M to keep him as Woj is saying. He got his starting position and has talked about fair for both sides so maybe 1st year of contract is 18-19 .... 20 max if he loves it here as much as he says and with that amazing new house he just bought?

thanks, dennis's agent (via woj). it won't take that. nobody is going to offer that. he should take his extension at current salary and be happy. otherwise, i see a paycut for a non-contender in his future.

right? nope. we're not dealing kuz unless an allstar comes back. we're not dealing kcp cuz klutch.

and we're in the driver's seat of every FA. yes, there are long-term salary concerns, but our window is now. if AD tears an achilles and lebron ages out, we can sell off parts for picks, no problem. for now, we're still buyers. sorry, woj.
