convention is that almost every single great player stays through his first contract extension, so, another 6-7 years before he'll hit the market in any way.

if dallas isn't a contender and hasn't been by then, i wouldn't put it past luka to leave. he's an extreme competitor. and everyone will shuffle rosters to make a bid.

Oladipo would be great. Need another playmaking scorer who can defend - as we saw with Dennis out. Would have to trade all 3 of our SGs, though, plus Duds.

    Dennis, Alex
    VO, Buy-out fodder
    Bron, Kuz, McKinnie
    AD, Kief, Kacok
Jones, Trez, Gasol (other buyout fodder)

Gives us a core 4 to match Nets - KD/AD, Harden/Bron, Kyrie/VO, Harris/Kuz. Plus we would have Trez and Dennis, which puts us over the top against all teams. Just a pipe... I love THT too - I was the one who called for his playoff minutes last year. But VO fits perfectly with AD and Bron and, at 28, is worth KCP and Talen, to me.

i'm really not very interested in oladipo. he's a significant injury risk, and his attitude hasn't seemed great, either. i think it's possible THT ends up being better than him and soon.

Oladipo is garbage. The last thing we need is a high volume ball dominator who is inefficient and coming off a severe injury. Huge pass.

I think LTLakerFan talking about wanting to trade my baby THT. I not sure what the big attraction is for Oladipo. I’ll be the first to say I don’t watch him so my opinion is based solely on stats. The guys is making 21 million a year and based on NBA stats he’s not even average. His 3 point shooting which we desperately need is 33.2% this year compared to 36.7 league avg. The previous 5 years he’s had one year that he beat the average in 17-18 year. His 2 FG is below avg. for the last 6 years, again except for 17-18. His EFG is below avg every year except 17-18. The only thing he’s better at his free throws, which we really could use but he doesn’t get to the line that much and this is before we include his injury risk.

I’ll admit, when I first heard Oladipo was on the block, I started thinking if we should get in the mix. I think mainly because he posted on social media recently with himself and his kid wearing Laker jerseys (I think he was just showing respect to Kobe). For whatever reason, I feel like it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we make a big move to add a “third star”, and getting Oladipo could have been a semi-realistic transaction.

The problem is, he’s not a star. The narrative was that he underperformed relative to his draft expectations with Orlando and OKC. Then he got traded to Indiana and had ONE all star year. That was 3 years ago, and since then he’s coasted on the narrative that he was a star all along and just needed a good fit in Indiana. Might be one of the most overrated players in recent memory. Since that 2018 year, he hasn’t been able to stay on the court, and when he has he hasn’t been the same. A SG on a lottery team with the green light, shooting less than 40% from the field and 31% from three is not great. It’s a bit mind boggling that he still sees himself as a max star and turned down extension offers.

(In the unexpected event we do trade for him, I reserve the right to delete this post and act like I wanted him all along :D )

He can go to the Bucks, no thanks. I’d rather have Wes, at least he can play defense.

Even at his best, he didn't play D and Boston had to hide him on Defense.

If we have a great defense, I suppose his deficiencies could be hidden, but are we that desperate for Offense?

Plus, all he would do is take away minutes from AC and THT. IT is a turnstile defensively. The Lakers need to focus on getting guys on the buyout market. I like the team that we have but we are missing a player like JJ Reddick and another rim protector. God forbids Marc Gasol is injured and the Lakers only have Trezz/AD to play the big.

THT’s potential is real, again, I was the ONLY one pushing for his playoff time last year, but to say better than VO and soon is rose colored - like BI being Durant or Lonzo being GP. Love seeing Randle, BI, Deangelo, and Lonzo do well. But... The Bron/AD/Kuz window is now.

I have seen VO play a lot. When motivated, he brings a lot more than KCP/THT do right now. And......the Nets are now!
